Boy is this a busy week! Just a reminder for you that tomorrow is:
  • Grandparent's Day. Please make sure you responded to the Google form (from the school email last week) if any grandparents are coming tomorrow to spend time with your child and/or bring them home after Mass.
  • Book Fair for Room 28! We will be attending at 12:00 p.m..
  • Crazy Sock Day! Students should wear gym uniforms with their crazy socks!
Picture Retake Day Has Been Changed!
Last minute change!  Picture will NOT be this Wednesday, October 18th it has been MOVED to Wednesday, October 25th!!
Conferences will be in the school hall/lunchroom tomorrow and Friday.
 
Please only use door #3 on Thursday for all conferences.  Door #1 will be under construction.  
 
Door #1 will be open on Friday, as well as door #3.
 
 
Jr. Trojans is cancelled tomorrow, Oct. 19th, for 3rd and 4th graders due to conferences
 
The remaining dates are as follows:
 
1st/2nd grades will be Oct. 23rd and Oct. 30th
3rd/4th grades will be Oct. 26th and Nov. 2nd

Here are two updates for you, in case your child hasn't told you yet...
  1. Our new AR goal is 10 points! Reading AR books for our weekly book log should help a LOT!
  2. We are now moving to 1 weekly turn in for our flashcards. I will hand them out on Monday and they should be returned Friday. There will still be a place for you to sign on the envelope.  Thank you for all your help with these - the class is really coming along with their facts!

Tomorrow is our Topic 3 math test. Please go over our chapter packet pages with your child, especially pages 109 and 110. Practice flashcards too, as the kids need to know their facts quickly for the test.  Thank you so much for your help.
 
Also, please go through the planner each day with your child. Maybe even check off the boxes together when homework is complete, and supervise him/her putting work back in the take-home folder. I'm starting to see more missing assignments and missing folders, which is not a great start to any student's day.
 
One more gentle reminder...the students should be ready to come into the classroom by 8:00. We only have ten minutes until all-school prayer at 8:10.  I'm getting a lot of students coming in at 8:10, which causes some chaos in the morning routine. If you are dropping off on time, please talk to your child about walking up to our classroom the quickest route possible to be at my room by 8:00.

Christmas Show Update: Your child is bringing home their music sheet with lyrics today. Everyone NEEDS to practice at home!

Our I-Ready diagnostic schedule is as follows: Monday 1/22 will be Math at 9:00. Tuesday 1/23 will be Reading at 8:15.
 
We will not complete a unit in Spelling this week.

Parents, students are now allowed to come out of uniform for the rest of the week, due to the cold weather. My room runs a little on the cold side some days, so please make sure your children dress warm enough, or wear layers. Thank you!

Book fair wish lists are coming home today.  Students will shop as a class Tuesday 1/30 and/or Wednesday 1/31 (8am – 3:30pm).  Feel free to stop by at pickup to shop with your child any of the days.  Payment can be set up through eWallet (see link below), cash, credit card, Apple Pay or check made out to St. Juliana.  DON’T FORGET TO ADD 10.5% TAX.  Please consider rounding up for “All for Books” which benefits the SJS classrooms as well.  The book fair will be located in the School Hall.  Encourage your children to buy at least one book before trinkets.  The volunteers will also try their best to assist!
