Spelling - Backpack Page 4 and study for tomorrow’s test.

Religion - Our first Religion test will be Chapter 1 on Thursday, Sept. 15th. Normally, tests will be every other Wednesday. Since Back to School night is Tuesday and there won’t be any homework, we are having it on Thursday. Books will be coming home today and do not need to be returned until next Thursday. Tests are multiple choice, matching, fill in the blank, and short answer. To study for tests, study the highlighted parts, review the Faith Words boxes, review the Chapter Review at the end of every chapter, and take the pretest on www.Blestarewe.com. Click on Students, take a quiz, Grade 2, and Chapter 1.  Chapter 1’s short answer will be to write one way you can show you are a child of God. 

*Back to school night is Tuesday, Sept. 13th from 6-7pm. A packet with 2nd grade information will be going home on Monday.  Review the packet, come see the classroom, and if you have any questions, please ask. If you are unable to come, please email me if you have any questions. Also coming home will be information on Renaissance Home Connect Accelerated Reading (A.R.) and your child’s iReady username and password.

Reading - Please reread Backpack Page 2 aloud several times. Continue to study for Friday’s Spelling test with the words that were handed out on Friday.

*Over the next couple of weeks, we will be writing a friendly letter. Coming home is Resource Page 7. Fill out the address of a family member or friend your child would like to write to. Please hand in the paper along with a stamp by Friday, the 9th.  I will provide the envelope and I will mail them.  Thanks!

*We are taking the Reading and Math Diagnostic Test for iReady this week.

*Please sign and return the Superkids Beginning of the Year test. All tests should be signed and returned, except for the Spelling tests. Keep the Spelling tests when they come home.

Spelling - Complete the Backpack Page coming home and keep at home. Super e words are words that have a silent e at the end which makes the other vowel long. Continue to study for Friday’s test.

Math - Please complete and return the double sided Additional Practice page 1-1 coming home. A 100’s chart is coming home to keep and use when needed.

Spelling - A Backpack Page is coming home today. We are finishing up a warm up unit this week. After this week, Backpack Pages will be numbered. The first Spelling test will be on Friday. We will be having Spelling tests every Friday. Tests will be on Thursdays if there is no school on a Friday. This 1st test on Friday will be a Practice Test.  Please keep all Backpack Pages when they come home.

*A few students need to bring in an Art Smock in a labeled ziploc bag. Please do so this week.

*You may wear Spirit Wear on Wednesday, 8/31. Spirit Wear is on the last day of every month.

Welcome to 2nd Grade!!

Welcome to Room 30! I am very excited to begin a new school year with your child. I hope you all had a relaxing and wonderful summer!  If your child will be attending Extended Care afterschool, registration forms are coming home today. I get a copy of the monthly forms for those attending in Room 30.  If your child will be picked up by someone other than you, please send an email or note. Room 30 dismisses from Door #9 (Touhy) at 3:05.  Please bring a lunch to school daily. If you ordered Hot Lunch, it begins on Tuesday, September 6th. 

Please bring in any remaining school supplies during the week. Please put headphones in a labeled Ziploc bag and an old shirt for Art in a labeled Ziploc Bag. 

Many papers from the office will be coming home this week. Please return any necessary forms.
