Look How Big I Am! The children enjoyed us tracing their bodies on large paper. We encouraged the children to add details with markers. Together with the children we used a tape measure to measure their bodies.  We asked the children to consider how they have grown and changed since they were babies. We were very impressed with the children’s thoughtful responses. Way to go, Pre-K 4!

Mrs. Powell very kindly organized a fire engine visit for all our Preschool and Kindergarten students. Truck Company 119 brought their fire engine to SJS! The children enjoyed seeing the fire engine. The firefighters discussed fire safety with the children. They encouraged the children to learn their addresses. A big thank you to Truck Company 119 and all our Chicago Firefighters for all you do!
Family Fun! Linked to the big idea “I share special times with my family,” the children enjoyed role-playing a family visiting a restaurant to celebrate a special occasion. We encouraged the children to show examples of how customers and the wait staff treat each other kindly. We encouraged polite expressions such as, “Thank you for the delicious food.”

PK4 classes are learning about community helpers this week. We had several parents offer to come in and “show and tell” us about what they do to help others. So far we’ve had a doctor, a nurse practitioner, and a police officer. We are so grateful and thankful our SJS families do so much to help us all! We love our community helpers!
