Welcome to Room 31!  Second grade is such an exciting grade to teach.  The chidren are anxious to make their First Holy Communion and they are becoming much more independent.  I look forward to a new year with new friends and can't wait to get back into a classroom routine.

Reading - Reread Backpack Page 28 aloud a few times.


Math - Flashcards and pages 31+32


Religion - A copy of the Gloria prayer is coming home. Please practice this daily. This will show up on the test next Wednesday.  You will be asked to fill in the blanks.


*11:30 dismissal Thursday and Friday.

Math - A new batch of flashcards are coming home to practice with the others. We started Topic 3, Add Within 100 Using Strategies. Cut up and review the Vocabulary Word Cards coming home. 


*iReady Fall diagnostic results are coming home along with an informational letter. 


*Please complete 15 minutes of iReady Reading and 15 minutes of Math by Sunday evening.

Tuesday's Homework and Reminders (10-10-23)

Reading - Backpack Page 24 and continue to study the words that were given last Friday for the Spelling test on Friday.


Math - A new batch of flashcards are coming home to study with the others. Study the review pages coming home for the Topic 2 test, Work with Equal Groups, that will be this Thursday.


iReady - 15 minutes of Reading and 15 minutes of Math by Sunday evening please.


Religion - Continue studying for the Chapter 3 test that will be on Wednesday. Study the highlighted parts, Faith Words, Chapter Review, and take the pretest at, blestarewe.com. Be familiar with the Saints on page 54. You will also be asked to draw or write about a good and holy action you can do to follow Jesus.

Thursday's Homework and Remindners (10-5-23)

Spelling - Backpack Page 21 and study for tomorrow’s test. Since there is no school on Monday, Backpack Page 23 will be going home tomorrow to start studying for the test next Friday, 10/13.


Math - Flashcards. The back of today’s paper coming home is a vocabulary review. Keep that to review along with the pages that we will complete next week for the Topic 2 test next Thursday, 10/12.

*Information about Halloween in case you are shopping -  Students can bring in Halloween treats/trinkets to pass out and bring home on the 31st. Keep in mind we have students who are allergic to Tree Nuts, Dairy, and Artifical Sweetners. We have 21 students. You can also come out of uniform wearing Halloween colors. Thanks so much to our Room Moms, Mrs. Kotowicz and Mrs. Barnstable, for organizing and hosting our parties this year!!

Everyone went home with an apple today courtesy of Aanya.  She went to an apple orchard and wanted to share some healthy and delicious treats.

*12:30 -   Please bring the yellow paper indicating the Grandchildren/Grade/Room Number. Someone will get the Grandkids from the classroom and bring them to the gym. Backpacks are to be kept in the classroom. Mass is at 1pm.


*You can sit anywhere in the Church. If you are a reader at Mass, please sit in the front reserved pews with your grandparents/grandfriends. Once the kids are picked up from the classroom, I will go over with any remaining students and sit in the reserved front pews.


*After Mass, come back to the classroom to get your bags and check out the room.  Please make sure to fill out the Google Doc. It will tell me if your child is staying with me until dismissal or is allowed to go home with the Grandparent.

Math - A new batch of flashcards are coming home today. Please cut up and practice at home with the others. We started Topic 2, Work with Equal Groups.  My Word Cards are coming home. Please cut these up, keep, and practice throughout the chapter (You don’t need to write your own sentences using each word). 


Religion - Study for the Chapter 2 test on Wednesday. You will be asked to write one way you can bring the light of Christ to others. Take the pretest.


*A wish list is going home today from the Book Fair. Our class will be going tomorrow to buy books if you’d like.

Thursday's Homework and Reminders (9-21-23)

Religion - The book came home yesterday to start studying for the Chapter 2 test that will be on Wed. 9/27. Review the highlighted parts, Chapter Review, and take the pretest at www.blestarewe.com. You will be asked to write one way you can bring the light of Christ to others. 


*The STAR test (reading comprehension) will be coming today. This is just the first STAR test taken.  They will be taken each trimester and the idea is to look for progress. Please remember that this is one diagnostic tool. You may keep these. They are also helpful to use as a reference to help your child pick out a book to read at his/her reading level.  Please make sure your child is reading at home and choosing a book that is at their suggested reading level based on the STAR Reading Test.  Also, encourage your child to take their time reading, and reread the book if necessary.
