Reading - Reread the Backpack Page, Sal’s Training Plan, a few times to practice fluency.

 

Spelling - Continue to study for the Spelling test that will be this Friday, the 6th. Words went home last week.

 

Math - Pages 9+10.  The first sheet of Flashcards are coming home today. These will be coming home weekly. Please cut these out carefully, place in a baggie, and practice daily. After practicing, please sign/date the signature sheet. The goal is to get faster and faster reciting the fact family on the back. I told the students it might be helpful to tape the signature sheet on the inside of the green folder so it doesn’t get lost.

Math - Pages 7+8. A 100’s chart is going home. Please keep this handy when needed for any Math homework pages. 

*Coming home is a Family letter discussing our Reading program, Superkids. Also coming home is a Backpack Page that has the Spelling list for our first Spelling test that will be on Friday, Sept. 6th.  We will be having a Spelling test every Friday. The word list (12 words) will go home every Monday. The words are coming home today since there is no school this Monday, 9/2.  Backpack pages will be coming home daily starting next week. Complete and keep Backpack Pages at home.

*Please sign and return the Reading Beginning of the Year progress test coming home today. Sign and return all tests, except for Spelling. You keep the Spelling tests when they come home.

First week of 2nd grade is behind us and the children are getting in a nice routine.  (Well...the first two and a half days.)

 

I am just missing a couple art smocks, and the blue permission slip for taking walks. We only have a few headphones.  I know some of you ordered the wireless headphones and are waiting for them to arrive.

Math -  We began Topic 1, Fluently Add and Subtract Within 20. Coming home is a Home-School Connection letter and My Word Vocabulary Cards. Please cut up the vocabulary cards and review them throughout this topic. You can write the vocabulary word on the line and keep these at home to practice.

*If you brought in wireless headphones without the charger, please bring in the charger. If you still need to bring in wireless headphones, please bring the charger in with it. You may also purchase the headphones through the office, please tell them you are purchasing the wireless 2nd grade headphones.

Welcome to 2nd Grade!!

Welcome to Room 31! I am very excited to begin a new school year with your child. I hope you all had a relaxing and wonderful summer!  If you haven’t already, please bring in an oversized Art shirt in a labeled ziploc bag. Also, a pair of wireless headphones in a labeled ziploc bag. 

There is a “Sibling Meet-Up” (formerly known as “The Bus Stop”) if you want your child to meet up with siblings at dismissal in the Conference Room (across from the Office) and go out Door #1 together. If your child is going to the “Sibling Meet-Up” at the end of the day, please send me an email. If your child will be picked up by someone other than you out Door #5, please send an email or note. I will get a copy of the Extended Care calendar if your child attends. I can be reached best through my email at, [email protected].

Thursday, August 22nd - Full day of school, please remember to bring a lunch. Dismissal is at at 3:05, Door #5 (Gym Door) unless your child is using the “Sibling Meet-Up”  they will exit out of door #1. 

We will be dismissed from school at 2:00 on the first Thursday of each month.

Please return any necessary forms from the Office.
