A look at this week’s classes:
Kindergarten classes did not meet due to the Holiday.
First graders finished up our unit on classroom objects by creating mini-books with all of our words we have practiced. These books were sent home; feel free to practice with your child.
Second graders did not meet due to the holiday.
Third grade is now starting a new unit – Food vocab. We practiced saying 16! new words and then labeled a page of pictures illustrating these words. We also practiced with a crossword puzzle. This page was sent home.

Fifth grade finished interviewing each other in Spanish regarding likes and dislikes with verbs. Then they presented their findings to the class using Spanish only. We also got some oral review with our words by doing a partner “grab” game in which the students had to grab the picture card of the vocab word/phrase that they hear me say out loud in Spanish.
Sixth graders are continuing their work on their Spanish calendar project which includes the proper way of saying the date and special days/holidays in Spanish.
Seventh graders finished and corrected our work from last week (see last entry).
Eighth graders are completing their translations from last week (see last entry).

Another busy week! Here's what we covered last week in all our classes:
K,1st and 2nd graders are all practicing basic Spanish phrases. Your child should now be familiar with the following:
hola/hello ?Como te llamas?/What's your name? Me llamo/My name is ?Como estas?/How are you? Bien/good mal/bad regular or asi-asi/OK Adios/Bye
We worked on oral recognition of these words; we also matched them to a corresponding picture and are also working on learning the written words. We have done a lot of work in class!! They are doing a great job.
Third graders took a break from our regular unit to learn a bit about Mexican culture as we read the legend of the poinsettia. The legend is a traditional Mexican story that tells of the origin of the poinsettia, the Christmas flower native to Mexico. The students made their own poinsettia flowers.
Fourth grade (Tuesday did not meet due to the all school mass) - Thursday's class also took a break from our regular unit to learn about the Virgin of Guadalupe, whose special feast day was December 12. We learned a lot of facts about this important day and also learned about the symbols and meanings behind the picture of the Virgin of Guadalupe.
Fifth grade (also only met with Thursday's class) began creating weather "posters" to illustrate our new vocab, using complete Spanish sentences only. They are doing great.
Sixth grade worked on three different actvities to reinforce our Familia vocab. We are hoping to use our new words to create another voicethread project to be posted on the blog upon completion.
Seventh grade continues to practice the present tense of the verb TENER.
