A Special Day!

We had a great time in school today! We have been very busy learning our classroom routines, songs, and prayers. The children have also been busy decorating our classroom with their fantastic artwork. Mrs. Wrzesinski and I have been very impressed with how well the children listen and follow directions.
Today we shared a story about how God designed each one of us in a unique and beautiful way. The children each made a special "person" to represent themselves. When you join us for Back to School Night tomorrow, you'll find your child's project on the bulletin board outside our room. Here are some pictures of the work in progress...

An important person to know...
A very unique and special person to our room is our classroom aid, Mrs. Wrzesinski. Though she stays "behind the scenes," don't let her fool you... she is essential to our success!

We had a special celebration today! Amanda turned 5. Happy Birthday Amanda!

Peanut Allergy in Room 4

Though a paper copy of this note was sent home yesterday, I want to make sure our Room 4 family always has this important information available throughout the year. This information (and all blog entries) are available even after they have moved from our main page. On the bottom, right side of the screen are the Archives. To access this information in the future, click on the "August, 2010" folder.

We have a child with a SEVERE PEANUT ALLERGY in our room. She cannot have any item with peanuts/peanut oil/peanut butter or items processed on the same equipment as peanuts. However, if a snack is processed in the same factory, she'll be fine.
When choosing snacks to share on your volunteer date, please check the content labels very carefully.

Some examples of common snacks that are acceptable:
Oreos
Chips Ahoy
Goldfish
Cheez Its
Pretzels - Rold Gold brand. (The Hanover brand is processed with peanuts.)
Pudding - Jello, Snack Pac or Swiss Miss
Apple Sauce
Apples
Honey Maid Graham Crackers
Rice Krispie Treats
Sun Chips

You are not limited to this list but please keep the guidelines in mind.

Some examples of unacceptable snacks:
Most Breakfast/Granola Bars
Hanover Pretzel Pacs
Cherrios Snack Mix
Most Crackers and Cheese items since most are processed on the same
equipment as peanut butter products.

If your child eats breakfast containing peanuts/peanut butter, please make sure they wash their hands and face before coming to school. Our child’s allergy is triggered not just by ingestion but also by touch.

The St. Juliana staff is trained in the medical action needed if an allergy attack takes place, but preventing an attack is our goal.

A Great First Day!

I loved seeing so many smiling and eager to learn faces today. What a wonderful group of parents and children Mrs. Wrzesinski and I are blessed to be working with this school year!
Enjoy some moments from our first day together...

Welcome!

Welcome children, I'm glad you're here.
We're all going to have a wonderful year!
We'll draw and we'll write,
We'll sing and we'll play,
We'll paint and we'll build,
And learn new things each day!

Great Expectations

It's time to say good-bye
Our year has come to an end.
I've made more cherished memories
and many more new friends.

I've watched your child learn and grow
and change from day to day.
I hope that all the things we've done
Have helped in some small way.

So it's with happy memories
I send them out the door,
With great hope and expectations
for what next year holds in store.

Thank you all for a wonderful year! We'll see you in the fall.
Love, Mrs Newes & Mrs. Browne

Counting down...

This week, we will finish our study of the alphabet by looking at the letters "Y" and "Z." The children may bring either a "Y" or "Z" object for our last show-and-tell. Our theme this week is Summer Fun! The children will make bright suns, delicious looking watermelons, and a fireworks project during our art centers. We will also finish our religion book about Creation.

Just a reminder: The last day in our classroom is this Friday, May 28th. Our end of the year picnic is next Wednesday, June 2nd at Pioneer Park (7135 N Harlem Ave.) A note will be sent home this Wednesday.

The last Moms and Tots group meeting is this Thursday, May 27th. Enjoy a visit with other moms and grandmothers while the kids play!

Photo Keepsake Book

We have enjoyed taking lots of pictures in three year old preschool! All of our room's photos are being compiled in a keepsake book (about eighty pictures.) Each three year old preschool room will have its own book. The book contains large and small group shots and individual shots of every child. The keepsake book costs $14 and will be passed out at the end of the year picnic.

If you are interested in purchasing the book, please send in the order form, sent home last week, with $14 cash or a check made out to Mary Hazzard (of W. O. W. Memories.) IF the order form has been misplaced, please send in a note with payment.
