The State of Illinois Hearing and Vision Screening memos are being sent home today with each student. Please look for them, read the information, and note the due date.



Student Council also sent home a note today about making Easter Baskets for our sharing parish. Please send in anything you are able to contribute to these baskets. Room 2 will be making a basket for a girl, rooms 5 and 9 will be making a basket for a boy. Any baskets that you will not be using this year would also be greatly appreciated, as we need something to put all the treats in! Thank you!

Next week we will be learning about the letter "R". Please make sure your child can recognize, print, and vocalize the sound for "R". We will be learning about tracking print and illustrations, rhyming words, tools for cleaning and yard work, and introducing synonyms. We will also be working with our memory words: of, the, a.



Your child should be able to count to 100 on their own, please practice this at home. Also, please be sure to go over your address so your child can recite it on their own to us at school.



All of the Kindergartens are doing an awesome job of finishing most of their lunch during lunchtime. So please make sure you pack enough for your child at snack time.



Mother's Club Hot Lunch is Friday, March 2nd. Please do not forget to send a snack on this day.



We only have a couple class t-shirt orders missing from each room. Please be sure to send in your form. We have to send in all the orders together, we cannot add any at a later time. We do not want any of our friends to be sad on days we wear them as a class.

There is no school on Friday, February 17th or Monday, February 20th.



Next week we will be learning about the letter "B". Please make sure your child can recognize, print, and vocalize the sound for "B". We will be learning about identifying parts of a book and the story title, discussing clubs and bakery items, forming plurals with "s" endings, and understanding the contraction "let's". We will also be working with our memory words: of, the, a.



We are working with addition in math, please be sure to reinforce this at home.



Next Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, we will be discussing what Ash Wednesday and Lent mean. Please help your child think about something extra they can do during this time.



Please continue to work with your child on memorizing your address. If your "house" has not come home, your child has not been able to recite it to their teacher from memory yet.



The Great America Reading Program forms are due Wednesday, February 22nd.



Class t-shirt orders are due Friday, February 24th.

Tomorrow is our Valentine's Day party. Your child can wear red, pink, and purple out-of-uniform in celebration for the day. Your child does not need to bring a snack unless they do not like ice cream, as we will be making sundaes.



Please remember not to address your child's Valentine's to each of their classmates. Please only sign the cards with your child's name, so the distribution process is as easy as possible.



When Superkids work is sent home, your child should be able to sound out and answer all questions on their own with minimal assistance. Please make sure that your child is doing their work on their own, so that when they are asked to do the same work in class they are prepared.

The Great America Reading Program forms are due Wednesday, February 22nd.

We have earned another pop-top out-of-uniform pass that we will be using tomorrow- Friday, February 10th.



Also please remember it is Mother's Club Hot Lunch. The order this month is from McDonald's. If your child does not receive milk daily, please be sure to send a drink!

This week we will be reviewing all of our Superkids friends as well as learning about the letter "U". Please make sure your child can recognize, print, and vocalize the short sound (as in cut) for "U". We will be learning about identifying words beginning with "u", as well as words with "u" in the middle. This unit will also be teaching us about blending sounds to decode words, making predictions, cause and effect, and describing settings. We will also be using memory words: the, a, I; along with all of the Superkids names, so please be sure to review these important words at home.



In math we are learning about addition, please be sure to practice this at home as well.



This Friday, February 10th is Mother's Club Hot Lunch.



Valentine's Day Note: Our party will be on Tuesday, February 14th. This is a regular school day. Our half day friends will be dismissed at 11am, but are welcome to come back for the party at 1:30p, to be dismissed again at 2:50 with their classmates.



On student Valentines, please have your child sign the card, but do not put each of their classmates names on them. We want the distribution process to be as easy as possible!

Tomorrow is 100 Day!



Please remember the 100 Day shirts that were brought into school will be worn over your child's clothes.



Please also be sure to pack a snack and drink for tomorrow. Due to a special "Student Appreciation" surprise snack being passed out in the afternoon, we will be waiting to make our 100 Day Trail mix until Monday.
