The Library is Open to All Students
The St. Juliana School Library is used by all students. The 3 year old preschoolers use the room for story time with their classroom teacher. The 4 year old preschoolers go to Library once a week for story time with the Librarian. Students in Kindergarten through 5th grade have a regularly scheduled weekly Library class. All students in grades 6th through 8th have various times allotted to them throughout the week when they are able to go to the Library as walk-ins on an as needed basis.
Kindergarten and 1st grade Library Policy
Students in Kindergarten and 1st grade are allowed to check out 1 book a week. They are allowed to keep the book for 1 week. All students are charged a $0.10 a day fee for past due books. The fees are only accumulated on school days, not weekends or holidays. No student will be allowed to check out a new book if they have an overdue book. If a book is lost or damaged, you will be given a notice detailing the cost to replace the book. A student is given the option to pay for the book or they can bring in a replacement book. No student will be allowed to check out a new book if they have a lost or damaged book fine that has not been taken care of. If a student is absent on Library day they should return their book as soon as possible and notify the Librarian that it is overdue due to illness. Please do not wait until the following week to return late books; otherwise late fees will be generated.
2ND grade through 8th grade Library Policy
Students in grades 2 are allowed to check out 2 books. Students in grade 3 through 8 may check out multiple books at a time as long as the student is able to read them and return when due. All books are allowed to be checked out for 2 weeks. Books may be renewed a reasonable number of times. All students are charged a $0.10 a day fee for past due books. The fees are only accumulated on school days, not weekends or holidays. No student will be allowed to check out a new book if they have an overdue book. If a book is lost or damaged, you will be given a notice detailing the cost to replace the book. A student is given the option to pay for the book or they can bring in a replacement book.
