Homework: Study for spelling test. Please sign and return the reading and math tests.
Reminder: out-of-uniform(pop tops)
We will be out-of-uniform(pop tops) next week: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The children need to be uniform on Thursday for our last school Mass.

I can't believe we only a few days of school left!! We will be working on saint/holy day pages in our religion book this week.
Language Arts-We will complete Unit 9 this week. Our last spelling test is on Friday(not Thursday).
Math-We will finish double digit addition this week and start on double digit subtraction. Math worksheet for homework tonight.
Science-We finished up our Planet reports today. They are in the green folder. We had fun in computers today using Pixie 3 to draw and write a fact about our planet.
I also sent home all the pages from our class books, which included the All About Me paper from the beginning of the year with the family photo on it.
I also sent home all the extra markers, crayons, and colored pencils. We still have some in school, but I wanted to send the bulk of it home today. Please empty the green folder every night, as we will be sending home many projects and papers.
A few reminders: Mass tomorrow-please be in uniform.
Thursday- Out-of-uniform-We will have our end of the year celebration in the afternoon. The room moms have been busy making plans for this special afternoon. Friday-out-of-uniform(pop tops).
Please remember to bring a lunch every day-The FSP does not operate during these last few days of school.

Pop-top out-of-uniform Friday!
Religion-We are completing our last chapter-We Pray with Holy Songs. We talked about our favorite holy songs--Ask your child about their favorite song?? The family page is in the green folder.
Language Arts-Spelling test tomorrow!! We will finish up Unit 8 this week.
Math-We started chapter 12 today-double digit adding and subtracting. The family page is in the green folder, The results of the timed math test are in the folder, along with the chapter test--Please sign and return both of the tests tomorrow. Only the children that scored below 85% need to continue to do the flashcards. The re-take is this Friday.
Science-We are reading about the planets. We will begin our planet report later this week. We went to computers today to practice putting the planets in the right order.

Religion-We are praying with our rosaries every morning. We will also crown Mary on Friday in our classroom. The children may bring a flower to put in the vase for our May crowning ceremony.
Language Arts-Homework-Please read "The Lesson" for homework tonight. Our spelling test for Unit 8 is next week Tuesday.
Math-We will continue to work on telling time to the hour and half hour. Homework: Math flashcards. Don't forget our Subtraction Test is this Friday!!
Science-We started our solar system unit today. We read some books and learned the order of the planets. We wrote a silly sentence to help us remember the order-ask your child what they wrote.
Reminders: The children need to be in uniform on Tuesday(May Crowning at 2:00 in Church) and Wednesday-School Liturgy. Tomorow is the last day for book orders!!

Today we learned the sounds of ou and ow--they both make the sound of ou as in ouch. We founds words in our room that contain this sound and wrote them on a recording sheet. For homework tonight you need to take 2 of the words-one ou word and one ow word, write a sentence and draw the picture. Don't forget math flashcards. Test NEXT Friday- May 18th.
We also learned about the rosary today. There is a sheet in the folder that explains about the prayers we say when we pray the rosary. We will continue to pray part of the rosary tomorrow.

We are busy working on our state reports. We are having a great time reading the postcards from other schools in the United States. Ask your child what they remember from the postcard from Idaho!!!

The timed math subtraction test will be next Friday May 18th. The last book order forms for the year went home yesterday. They are due next Monday, May 14th.

In religion this week we are focusing on Jesus' Mother Mary. We will learn about how to pray the rosary.
Language Arts-Please read the story "The Runaway Dragon" for homework. Our spelling test is on Wednesday.
Math-We started our unit on telling time. Please practice telling time to the hour and half hour.
Social Studies-Today we learned about our state of Illinois and its many symbols: animal, bird, tree and insect. We will begin our state reports this week. We have received many postcards from other schools in the united States. We are busy reading the postcards and finding the states on our map. Ask your child what states we did today.
Remember to do your math flashcards for homework.
