Today we learned about synonyms (or cinnamon) as the kiddos like to say. We found paper cinnamon rolls(synonyms) hidden around our room. Check the paper in your child's folder to see if they found all of the cinnamon roll word match-ups.
Homework: Spelling words and contract. The spelling test will be next week Thursday.
Reminders: Field Trip forms and money are due next week. Out-of-uniform(pop-tops) tomorrow.

Homework: Easter Egg Clue Sheet. Please follow the directions on the homework sheet-Write 3 complete sentences about your item in the egg. Return the egg and the clues to school tomorrow.
The timed math addition results are in the green folder. Everyone did a great job!

We went on our Dinosaur Dig today! The children have their fossils in their school bag. They had to be very careful to excavate the fossils from the sand.
We also looked at some real fossils from Mrs. Oh. Ask your child which one was their favorite?

Thanks so much for all of your donations for the Easter basket. We had enough to make two baskets! Thank you for your generous donations.
We are still collecting books for the Black Top Balll. We only have 3 books in our Black Top Ball container.

Religion-The chapter from last week and family page for this chapter are in the green folder. We are talking about the church's birthday-Pentecost.
Language Arts-We will be taking our unit test tomorrow. The student book and letter are coming home today.
Math-We started symmetry today. We made a symma"tree" to find things in our room that are even on all sides. We took the math addition timed test-Everyone did fantastic!! A note will be coming home later this week with the results.
Science-We will finish up our dinosaur unit this week. We will go on our fossil dig and measure the length of our dinosaurs.
Homework: Math worksheet and please sign the math test packet. Please return the packet tomorrow.
Reminder: We are going to Mass tomorrow instead of Wednesday. So please no out-of-uniform tomorrow!

Our secret visitor left another mess for us to clean up and another riddle. We also built our trap to see if we can catch him tomorrow!

We had a great time in the science lab today. We went on a chocolate chip cookie excavation. We had to estimate how many bones(chocolate chips) were in the cookie, and then we had to carefully dig them out with a toothpick. Being a paleontologist is hard work! This activity will help us prepare for our "real" dig next week for fossils.
We started our dinosaur reports today--ask your child what dionosaur they are researching.
We had another surprise visit from the leprechaun today; I wonder what tomorrow will bring?

Religion-This a review week. We will also be talking about Saint Patrick.
Language Arts-We will begin Unit 4 tomorrow. Spelling words will come home this week.
Math-We learned about quarters today. Please continue to practice counting money beginning with the highest value coin. Chapter Test on Thursday. Study guide coming home on Wednesday. Please continue to practice the math addition flashcards. The timed addition test will be next Wednesday March 21st.
Science-We are busy learning abour dinosaurs in first grade. Tomorrow we will go to the science lab to practice for our fossil dig next week.
We had a surprise in our room today-ask your child who left a secret message on the board. We are also going to make a leprechaun trap in our room on Wednesday. Some of the children might be bringing some things to school to help us catch the leprechaun!
Homework: Math flashcards. Also go to the Superkids website to read the stories for this unit. Please sign and return the math quick check.

Spring pictures are on Monday, March 12th. Everyone will be taking pictures, you will have the opportunity to review and purchase the pictures at a later date.
In your child's folder, there was a letter about a basket each classroom is making for the Blacktop Ball. Our class theme is Books. There are suggested items on the sheet if you would like to donate something. Thanks for your generosity!!
We are also making an Easter basket for a girl. Small toys, and Easter candy are greatly appreciated.
On Thursday Saint Juliana will celebrate Heritage Day. Students may dress in clothing that represents their heritage. A note will be in the folder on Monday with addditional details.
No School on Friday.
Our Addition Math Fact test will take place in two weeks. Please continue to study the addition flashcards.

Religion-We are continuing to learn about the Holy Spirit. Today we learned about a special prayer called a petition. The family page is in the green folder.
Language Arts-The unit letter is in the green folder. We began Unit 3 today. We learned some new contractions; a concentration game is in the folder to keep at home and practice these new words. The Unit Test is also in the green folder. Please sign and return tomorrow.
Math-Please continue to practice counting money at home. The chapter test also needs to be signed and returned tomorrow.
Science-We will begin our dinosaur unit this week.
A field trip note is in the folder tonight. Please read the note and return to school by the due date on the letter.

We had a "Seusstastic Day" today! We read some books and did some projects about Dr. Seuss. We finished our Dr. Seuss language arts/math book. Everything is in the green folder! We even had a few treats!
