We are busy learning the short sound of a and reviewing the concept of addition. In religion we learning the words Catholic and community.

Tonight is Parent Night. I can't wait to see all of you tonight! The meeeting begins at 7:00. Hopefully we will have cool weather tomorrow!

We are busy learning our classroom rules and routines. Please return all business forms by Friday; I still have quite a few out.

Reminder: Dismissal at 2 tomorrow. I am looking forward to meeting you tomorrow at Parent Night which begins at 7:00.

We started a new chapter in Religion. The Family Letter came home with some special prayers and activities for you to do.

Phonics: We are working on consonant letters. We completed a chart of words that begin with S.

Math: The Family Page came home today, too. We are beginning addition.

Reading: We started our first reading book. We will work on short a words, words that end in s, and the order or sequence of the story.

We learned that there are three ways to read a book: read the words, read the pictures, and retell a story. Because the boys and girls are so excited about reading, they are bringing home my back-to-school books to read to you. I have four books that went home today; another four students will bring a book home tomorrow until everyone gets a turn. They want to retell the story to you.

The white business folder is coming home today. Please empty the notes and return tomorrow. The green folder is also coming home and needs to be emptied and returned tomorrow also.

Reminder: Many of the notes that went home last Wednesday are due; please return them tomorrow.

Due to the hot weather Mrs. Barton is allowing the school to come out-of-uniform tomorrow. They may also bring a water bottle to school.

Welcome to First Grade!



We had a great morning together. I am so excited to be your child's teacher this year. We spent the morning setting up some of our classroom rules, reading stories, and doing centers. We also talked about reading and how I LOVE to read! We discussed the many things that we read around us. Homework for tonight is to bring in their favorite book. They do not have to read it. We are just going to share some of our favorite stories.(If you forget I have plenty of books in the room.)

The white business folder came home today. Please go through it and return the forms as soon as possible. We eat lunch at school tomorrow for the first time. Dismissal is at 2:00! If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me. I always check my email, usually after school.

The year is over:( I can't believe how fast the year went by.

Thank you to everyone for your generous gifts. Many blessings for a safe, healthful, and happy summer vacation!!!

I can't believe we just finished our last full day of school. A few reminders for tomorrow: Please come in uniform. We will go to 9:00 Mass and be dismissed from church. The children may bring an empty backpack to school.

It was so nice to see many of you at the picnic. The weather cooperated and it turned out to be a beautiful day. Thank you to the room moms for the fun games and cool treat!!

We have been busy cleaning our desks, as you can tell from the full backpacks. We finished our memory books which went home Friday. I hope you enjoy them. I sent home the math packet for the children to work on during the summer. They were very excited when I showed them how to do double digit addition. I also sent home a few Word Ladders and a contraction puzzle in a packet to use over the summer. I had a few who even started the Word Ladder puzzles in the room,: they couldn't wait.

Monday: Please bring your backpack to school. The children may also bring a board game to school. They are also out-of-uniform.

Tuesday: Our final day:( together. They will be dismissed after mass. Please be in uniform.

The picnic is on! We will leave for Brook's Park at 11.

We will bring our kites; however, due to the wet fields kite flying will be your decision. One suggestion: if you have a plastic tablecloth or tarp it might a good idea to bring it to put under your blanket. See you there!!!

A big thank you to Mrs. Ferraresi, Mrs. Lombardi, and Mrs. Lally for putting our kites together!!! Hopefully the weather will cooperate for our picnic tomorrow. Please check this site for information tomorrow.

Our final May Crowning will be held in the room Thursday. Joey will crown Mary, with Genevieve carrying the pillow. Rory, Aidan, and Matthew will be in the procession.

Please empty out the green folder and backpack tonight! More papers will be coming home tomorrow and Friday.
