Room 6's Busy Bees!

Room 6 are having a great time with the learning theme Insects this week. The children enjoyed combing paint on a fly. The children enjoyed using the combs! During the year the children have used a number of different tools to paint with.

I was really impressed with how the children traced their name this week in large letters and then 'stung' their name with the end of a yellow crayon. Their tracing was amazing and a great indicator that their fine motor skills have really improved this year. Also when the children had to 'sting' their name it took time and all the children were determined to focus and finish this activity. I was really pleased with all the progress I observed during this center activity. Well done Room 6!

The children also this week made butterflies! The butterflies will be on display on the windows by the end of the week.

During gym today the children enjoyed new equipment Mrs. Barton very kindly purchased for the preschool using the points earned from Campbell labels. The school collects labels from the Campbell products and for every label collected the school earns points to buy necessary supplies. Collecting and sending in the Campbell labels and the Box Top labels is a great way to support the school.

Room 6 are learning so much from observing part of a butterfly's life cycle. We have four Painted Lady butterflies in Room 6. The children have chose the following names, Lightning McQueen, Michael Jordan, Fiona and Butterfly Bow. The butterflies will be released outside either Friday or Monday. Thank you once again to the Lynch family for this very generous donation.

Part 1 of the Mother's Day gift went home today. The children planted marigold seeds in the soil. I think some of them have too much water so please don't water for a few days. I am hoping all the mums will have a marigold in the near future! Part 3 of the Mother's Day gift is extremely fragile and will have to be handed to an adult at the door on Friday!!
The folders stayed in class today.
