Room 6's Christmas Party Tomorrow!

We had a great couple of days finishing our Christmas learning theme. The children once again went out for a walk and visited the manger outside Church to see the two new visitors waiting for baby Jesus. I am hoping the children can tell you who were the two new visitors...

The children enjoyed rolling candles to make candle prints.

I am really looking forward to the party tomorrow. We will meet at the usual door at the usual time. Don't forget your camera or party supplies. Thank you. I think I will take the children up first and then the parents will follow up a little while later. The party is in the library. Thanks again to Mrs. Jimenez!

Room 6's Busy Elves!

As part of our learning theme, Christmas, the children were very busy elves this week making Christmas gifts for their parents. They hammered, painted, stuck, glued, sprinkled, and squeezed to make all sorts of surprises for their parents. They will give these surprises to you at the Christmas party. They even created the wrapping paper!
Peeling and sticking stickers is a challenging activity for a three year old.
nullnullnullnullnullnullnullnull

Hammering glue on to a hammer bell is such fun!
nullnullnullnullnullnullnullnullnullnullnull

My favorite activity was creating the wrapping paper. Rolling and pressing the 'paint' covered spoon is another great activity to improve your child's fine motor skills.

The children enjoyed listening to the Christmas story this week. We paid another visit to the stable outside Church to meet the two new animals waiting for baby Jesus.
We also had a very special visitor to Room 6 this week. Dominic's Mystery Guest was his mum. He got a big surprise! Dominic's mum made a great photo board for the class to see. There were great photos of Dominic and his family. His first Cubs' game and a trip to Key Lime Cove looked like so much fun. Dominic's mum read to the class 'Curious George and the Fire Fighters!". The class really enjoyed this story and listened so well to Dominic's mum as she read to them. Dominic's Super Kids poster had so many interesting things about Dominic. I was so impressed with his proudest accomplishment. Dominic knows his phone number and how to spell his name. Wow Dominic! Well done Dominic! Dominic's favorite toy was 'froggy', a soft toy he likes to sleep with. The class enjoyed sharing their ideas on what is a good toy to sleep with. Thank you for visitng Room 6 , Dominic's mum, we really enjoyed the visit. I really hope Dominic enjoys his favorite holiday, Christmas!

Thank you to all the Room 6' s Community Helpers!

On Thursday, Firefighter Lynch, Hannah's Dad, very kindly visited Room 6 and gave the children a great talk on how firefighters help save people. Firefighter Lynch showed the children the gas mask he uses and how his voice sounds when he is wearing the mask. It was great to see how much the children remembered from fire safety week. The children enjoyed trying on Firefighter Lynch's helmet and jacket. Thanks Firefighter Lynch for visiting Room 6 and being a great Community Helper!

We also had two very special mystery guests visit. Abbey's Grandma Phil and Ma Pat, paid a very special visit to Room 6! Abbey got such a lovely surprise and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the visit. Abbey's Grandmas told the class so many interesting things about Abbey. I was really impressed by her proudest accomplishment, going to school all by herself without her mommy and daddy! Well done Abbey! Abbey comes to school everyday smiling! I also love Abbey's favorite pizza topping, green pepper! Wow Abbey what great taste buds for a three year old! Abbey's Grandmas brought in one of Abbey's favorite toys, a dancing Mickey Mouse, this was a big hit with all the children. We read one of Abbey's favorite books, "Clifford's First Day at School!" It reminded me of Room 6's first day at school and how much we have achieved in a short space of time. It was an absolute pleasure meeting Abbey's Grandmas, two wonderful ladies! It was so great to see how much they love Abbey and the special friendship these two ladies share. Thank you so much for visiting Room 6 Grandma Phil and Ma Pat, and thank you for the treats!

On a final note I will do my best to open the doors at 8.10 am and dismiss the children at 10.45 on the dot. I don't want to keep anyone waiting outside in the cold. If you ever arrive early at school please come in the closest door and wait inside at the regular door. Any help given to take the children's snow boots off and put their regular shoes on is greatly appreciated. If you are ever running late please do not worry. I am never in a rush to leave school, so take your time in the snow and ice. Any grandparents helping with younger siblings please let me know if I ever can do anything to help you.

Have a great weekend everyone!
