Thanks for an amazing year!

Mrs. Browne, Mrs. Belz and I would like to wish everyone a happy and safe summer! Thank you for all the best wishes and very generous gifts.
I thought the children did incredibly well today. They stood so nicely, sang so well, and were such good friends playing together. I was very, very proud!
A great finish to a great year!

We can't believe that was our last day!

We can't believe the year has come to an end. Mrs. Belz, Mrs. Browne, and I are really going to miss everyone.
I want to start by saying thank you to all the Parents of Room 6. You were the best parents I have ever had the experience of working with. There was no point this year that any of you caused me a moment of stress. You were all so supportive and gave me absolute freedom to do my job to the best of my ability. I really believe this year was a success because of the great support you gave me as your child's teacher. I really am going to miss working with each and everyone of you and I will always be grateful for all the support you gave me this year.
I also want to say thank you for the opportunity to teach your child. It was an absolute honor to be your child's teacher. We were really blessed to have such a wonderful group of children to teach this year. Today Mrs. Belz, Mrs. Browne and I took the opportunity to tell your child what we loved about them this year. We can't wait to hear of all the future successes your children will have.
We will really miss Finn, Owen, Grace, Bridget, Catherine, Patrick, Mykala, Jane, Alice, Oliver, Kate, Dominic, Addie, Marty, Liam, Markie, Mia, Joey and Jonah!
But it's not time to say goodbye just yet. Hopefully the sun will be shining on Monday morning for the picnic and we will all meet at Pioneer Park at 9.00 am. We will sing the songs at the beginning of the picnic at 9.00 am. If it is raining we will meet at the usual door at school at 9.00 am. Please check this page before you leave if the weather is unsettled.
Enjoy a great weekend everyone!

Room 6 News!
The children enjoyed making a red, white, and blue headband. The children did a great job repeating this pattern. This a headband they could wear on July 4th...

We are taking time this week to celebrate all we have achieved this year. In the journals today, the children completed a piece of work titled 'I will remember...'. The children's memories included events such as, the fire engine visit, the Teddy Bears Picnic, and the Halloween Party. It's been a great year!

Each week the children have completed different activities linked to the letter of the week. One of those activities has been a stamping activity. All the stamping sheets are being put together to make a special alphabet book for each child to review over the summer...

We continued with the May's Building Peace Lesson, Message Power, in class today. During a circle time, the children each told the person sitting next to them a positive message. It was wonderful to see and hear. All the messages were very kind, but one of the messages that nearly made us cry, was Catherine telling Mia she loved her! It's going to be hard saying goodbye...
Thursday - Movement Time
Friday - Girls' Z Show and Tell - A very tricky letter! If it is too difficult to find something starting with the letter Z, a Z in it's name will work too!
Monday - Last day and end of year picnic at Pioneer Park, across from Brooks Park, 9.00 am - if it is raining we will meet at the usual door at 9.00 am - please check this page first if the weather is unsettled. We will sing a couple songs at the beginning of the picnic. If you have any questions regarding the picnic please don't hesitate to contact me.
At the end of year picnic you will receive your child's last report card for the year. If you would like to meet with me, to talk through any concerns you may have, please don't hestiate to contact me, and we can set up a time.
Have a great day everyone!

Room 6's Yellow Fun!
Due to the weather, we took the outdoor fun inside! The children enjoyed playing golf and soccer in the gym...

I had to take the photo below. I definitely know the children are ready for four year old preschool when, without anyone asking, they sit themselves at a center, put on the smocks, and are ready to start! I loved this! A bitter-sweet moment!

The children enjoyed printing with yellow cotton reels to make lemons for a tall glass of lemonade...

The children enjoyed writing their own story starter in the journals and tracing the letter Y...

This week we also made surprise Father Day pictures. I love the resting hand Markie!

The Boys did a great job with Y Show and Tell today. We had yarn, a yellow banana, yellow Freckle Fred, the Y puppet, a yellow eight, a picture of a yoyo, a yellow birthday cake, and a yellow lid. Well done Boys!

Room 6's Outdoor Fun!

The children are enjoying the learning theme, Outside Fun, this week. On Monday the children had fun flying the kites they had made in class last week.

The reason the children are going home all different colors this week is because they have been having fun drawing with chalk outside...

We began playing golf outside...We tried to create a piece of art using painted golf balls.

One of our favorite things to do outdside this week is have a picnic...

When the grass was too wet, we found a dry spot to sit outside and have our picnic...

X marks the spot!
Today the children completed a piece of work in their journal titled 'Summer Fun'. The children traced the letter X. The children made kites this week to hopefully fly outside next week...

We really enjoyed seeing the Girls all dressed as pirates for X Show and Tell. I think it was a really good thing for the Girls to do. Next week I will bring my face paints back into class and paint moustaches on the boys' faces, during free play, if they want. Although the Boys were really cool about the Girls being the ones to dress up as pirates. Well done Boys! One of my favorite photos from the year!

For the last two weeks of school the learning themes will be Summer Fun and Outdoor Fun! I am hoping next week we will have the weather to go outside and fly our kites etc. No good clothes for Outdoor Fun please. Next week's letter is Y.

Room 6 News!
This week my main focus has been to formally assess the children for their end of year report card. I am very pleased with all the progress the children have made this year. All the children are doing amazingly well. The report cards will be given out at the end of year picnic.

We finished the three year old preschool auction item for the Gala. The children finger painted the frame. If you would like to, it is possible to bid on this item online at the Gala website...

May's Building Peace lesson is Message Power: The power of positive messages. The children wrote positive messages for Mrs. Barton. I think throughout this year the focus has been on the power of positive messages...
I was so proud of my class today. During the last two weeks I have been reading scenes and chapters from Alice in Wonderland during story time. I wanted to read a short version of the story all the way through today, so the children are all prepared for the play tomorrow. I was so proud of how all the children listened so nicely to the story. I think we are all excited for tomorrow!
In groups the children acted out different scenes from Alice in Wonderland. What part did they play today?

Thursday - NO SCHOOL - Can we please meet at the Marriott Lincolnshire theatre at 9.35 am. I have the tickets.
Friday - Girls' X Show and Tell - We are set to dress as pirates...
Have a great night everyone! Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions regarding the field trip tomorrow.

Happy Mother's Day!
We would like to wish all our wonderful Room 6 mums a very happy Mother's Day! In some of the children's bags is a Mother's Day gift that is very fragile!
The children completed a piece of work in their journals titled 'My Wonderland!'. This week we having been reading the story, Alice in Wonderland, during story time, one chapter a day!

We continued thinking about the concept bigger and smaller. The children sorted shapes into bigger and smaller shapes...

The Boys did a wonderful job with W Show and Tell today. We had wheels, watermelon, Woody, water bottles, a whistle, a watch, a wrestler, Wilson, and a wagon! Wonderful Boys!

This week we also enjoyed a couple walks outside!

Mrs. Browne measured all the children's height again. We will be sending the book home, 'How tall are we?', one more time. It will be fun to see how everyone has grown and changed over the year!

The children in the class have also created a pretty frame that will be an auction item for the Gala. The children finger painted the frame. Mrs. Reyes, one of St. Juliana's fifth grade teachers, has worked extremely hard organising a number of wonderful auctions items for the children to create.

We celebrated Mykala's birthday today! Happy Birthday Mykala, we will be thinking of you on June 11th, your special day! It was lovely to see the girls singing so nicely, happy birthday, to their dear friend Mykala...

Next week our learning theme is summer fun and X marks the spot. I thought it would be fun for Girls' Show and Tell on Friday if they could dress as a pirate. I don't want anyone to go to any extra expense but if the girls wanted to they could wear a bandana. I have a number of pirate items I will bring in too, and I will bring in face paint to paint a moustache on the girls' faces! So if you don't have any pirate stuff, don't worry, I have it. If any of the Boys want to take part too just let me know...
Monday - Library
Wednesday - Gym
Thursday - NO SCHOOL- FIeld Trip - Could we please meet at the Marriott Lincolnshire, at 9.35 am.
Friday - Girls' X Show and Tell
Please return the Building Peace t-shirts. Thank you.
Have a relaxing weekend everyone! You are all doing a wonderful job!

Room 6's Mad Hatter's Tea Party!
The children enjoyed making a white rabbit headband this week. The children wore their white rabbit headbands to the tea party today...

The tea party was a lot of fun. We invited three, very talented, eighth grade students to the tea party, to help us act out the tea party scene. The children played the part of the white rabbit. The children should now have a good understanding of the tea party scene from the story Alice in Wonderland...

Another great activity the children enjoyed, that is based on the story Alice in Wonderland, is playing cards. In the story Alice in Wonderland some of the characters are playing cards and Alice often changes from bigger to smaller. The card game, war, really reinforces the concept bigger numbers and smaller numbers. Playing a game of cards is also great opportunity to teach taking turns. I loved watching the children praise eachother when they would win a round in the game...

In gym today we continued playing soccer and practising a forward roll...

Thursday - Movment Time
Friday - Room 6 celebrates Mykala's Birthday.
Boys' W Show and Tell.
