They had fun playing "sweep the pumpkin".
A special thank you to Mrs. Gutierrez and Mrs. LaSusa for planning a wonderful Halloween Party. Thank you to everyone for all the treats that were supplied to make a fun-filled day.
Halloween Candy
Please share your Halloween candy. Bring in your wrapped candy to School by Wednesday November 2nd. The candy will be used in bag lunches for the homeless made by our Saint Vincent Depaul Society.
Just a reminder to review all papers in Friday folder. Some are making silly mistakes. I am always reminding them to review their work before they hand it in. We took the math test on place value today. This will go home on Monday.
Monday the room moms are organizing a party for our class. Thanks for bringing in the supplies. The class may come out-of-uniform.
The schedule for P/T conf.went home this week. If you would like to change your time and meet with me before or afterschool oneday that would be great. Just send me an email and we can reschedule your time. Thanks!

Tomorrow is Red Ribbon Day! The class may come out of uniform and wear Red!! We will be discussing Good and Bad health choices next week.
Homework:
Math- Complete Chap. test p 46 #1-33 as a review. We will be having a test tomorrow on Chap 1. Please review.
Reading-Complete steps in a process.
Tomorrow is the last day to take an A.R test. 8 pts was required for the 1st Quarter. We have silent reading everyday for 20 min and the recommended silent reading time for a third grader is 30 min. in the evening. Many did not meet our goal of 8 pts. However, many exceeded 8pts. Read to Succeed!
We have 3 days left of the 1st Quarter. Wow-time sure does fly!
Just a few reminders:
If your child does not have 8 pts for A.R by tomorrow they will be staying in for recess to read. Also, starting tomorrow those that have unexcused missing assignments will also stay in for recess. Homework is a very important part of the 3rd grade curriculum. It is a time for you and your child to review the concepts that have been taught in class. Homework is posted on the weblog and in should have been written down in assignment notebooks. There have been many unexcused missing assignments throughout the 1st Quarter.
Homework:
Math- p 44 Chap. Review. #1-39 odds only Chapter Test will be on Thursday.
Social Studies-Quick check questions on p. 5,7,9 Complete sentences please.
English- pg. 88-89 Odd only
Reading-29-30 if you didn't finish in class.
Spelling-Finish Unit 8 if you didn't finish in school from last week. Spelling test tomorrow.

Today we had students from UIC at our school talking to us about communities and their parts. We even made buildings and added them to our own city. What a great day of fun and learning! A special thanks to our leaders, Miguel and Chris. You were great!
Just a reminder that if you are ordering books for this Oct. the order is due Friday. Our classroom gets free books each month when we order 15.oo or more. The children really love when they get a new book.

Thursday is Jr. Achievement Day! Students from the UIC will be presenting various economic lessons to our students in the morning.

English-Nouns p 87 #25-29 all. I fyou did not finish in school.
Tomorrow is Mass. The 3rd graders are reading and bringing up the gifts this week.
Science-Study for Lesson 3 Quiz. Also, begin reviewing all notes in Science notebook on Lesson 1,2,3. We will be having the Chap Test on Friday.
Spelling Test tomorrow. Study Unit 7 words.
Reading-Reread Max Malone. Reading Test will be this Thurs.
Friday folders were sent home today. Please review and sign Religion, Reading and English test and return all.
English- we have now completed Unit 1 on sentences. We are now starting Unit 2 on Nouns.
Math-We will be finishing up our Chap. 1 on Place Value soon.
Science- Please review Lesson 3 notes in science folder and read over Lesson 3. We will be having a quiz on Tues.
We had an exciting week using the new Smartboard. Ask your child what we have done on it for so far.

Math- P 29 All. Review p 28 Problem Solving Strategies. I have found many are not taking their time to read carefully.

Science- Reread Lesson 3. Finish writing def. of new vocab. in 5 sub. notebook. Also, finish drawing the oxygen cycle in notebook.
Reminder:
Thank you to all who have been bringing in pop-tops. As you may remember the recycled pop-tops go to the Ronald McDonald House. We will be using a pop-top out-of-uniform pass tomorrow. No uniforms this Friday!
Reading-Read aloud "Opt" to an adult. Just a reminder that 3rd graders still need the experience to read aloud for fluency. Study vocab. in 5 sub. notebook. Test on Opt tomorrow.
English- Complete predicate and subject worksheet.
Math-Pg. 42 Set G All. Please review rules for rounding in 5 subject notebook. This may be helpful for some to review.

If you are signed up for extended-care and will not be going on that day-please send a note to school Attn. extended care. This way when they take attendance they won't be searching throughout the school for your child. Thanks!
