Shared Blessings
This year’s theme for Operation Rice Bowl, “For I was hungry,” reminds us that when we serve our brothers and sisters in need, we also serve Jesus. During this Lenten season, we answered the call to serve the “least of our brothers and sisters” through our donations to Operation Rice Bowl.
As we reflect on the passion of Christ over these next days, we remember that more than 44 million people in the United States are living in poverty. While 75% of our donations to Operation Rice Bowl support programs around the world, 25% of our contributions remain in the Archdiocese of Chicago to support local efforts that alleviate hunger and poverty.
We pray that our prayers, fasting, and almsgiving through Operation Rice Bowl this Lenten season will make a difference in the lives of the people in our community and around the world.
Thank you for sharing your blessings with others. May your Easter be filled with God's love and grace.
