Welcome Back

Welcome back to another new school year. It is exciting to be back with your sons and daughters.

Thank you to my homeroom students for being so prompt with returning all of those MANY forms last week. They were distributed on Wednesday and 100% were returned by Friday.

I am looking forward to seeing you on Thursday evening. The middle school teachers will be in the school hall for the first session. After that, we will be in the classrooms except for Mrs. Oh. She will be giving a presentation about the Science Fair in the Science lab for the second session.

7th Religion: our main theme of our text is the story of Jesus. We will be starting Confirmation preparation after Christmas.

8th Religion: the theme of our text is the history of our Church.

8th Reading: I sent the novel list for 8th grade home today. I have asked for the order forms to be back by next Tuesday. I told the students that if they can get them back by Friday that I can order on Friday afternoon. If it is too soon for you to return them on Friday, that is fine. It won't make much difference if I order on Friday or Tuesday. I know that the kids are anxious to start their novels so the sooner I order them, the sooner we will receive them.

Thank you once again for sharing your wonderful children with us. They are a joy to be with.

Have a great week and I will see you on Thursday night.

I started new chapters in all religion classes today.

Have a great week.

Week of April 12

Graduation gowns were sent home today. We had the students check to make sure that the tassels were in the bag and that they were in good shape. We did have one tassel that was broken so we will request a new one from the company. I would suggest that the gowns be taken from the bags and hung up.

6th Grade Religion: We are starting a new chapter today about King David and the psalms.

7th Grade Religion: We will be finishing up the Gifts this week. We will then spend time reviewing and learning about the actual rite of Confirmation. Please remember that the forms and fee are due on April 21st and that banners are due on April 28th.

8th Religion: We will be starting a new chapter tomorrow.

Vocabulary: We will correct the lesson tomorrow. Tests on this unit will be on Thursday and Friday.

The parish Saint Vincent DePaul food drive is this weekend and I will be asking for students to volunteer to help at each Mass.

I hope everybody had a great spring break.

28 March 2010

Week of March 29

All students will have the opportunity to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation on Tuesday.

6th and 8th Religion: We will be finishing up some activities on Holy Week and Easter.

7th Religion: We will start studying about the gift of Right Judgment in our Confirmation book. I sent home a letter the week before last about Confirmation banners. I have asked the students a few times if they have shown the letter to their parents. I have a feeling that some of those letters are still in their dockets. I just don't want anyone to get caught off guard about this project. The banners are not due until April 28th but some may want to get started over Easter if they have the time.

Happy Easter.
Have a great spring break.

We are continuing in our Confirmation book with the next chapter.

Have a great week.

15 March 2010

Week of March 15

We have had a few questions about the graduation bill that was mailed home last week about the class picture for $10.00. Some people asked if that was the same picture that some children ordered last week for $10.00. No, they are not the same. The order form that the children brought home last week was for the group photo of the 8th graders that was taken in January. This photo is totally optional. The picture that is listed on the bill is the class composite picture that the students receive on graduation night. It is the picture of the individual students in their caps and gowns. Sorry for any confusion.

Thank you so much to the 6th grade girls who babysat all the nights of the Mission last week.
Thank you also to the 8th grade girls who volunteered at the Pancake Breakfast yesterday.
There are about 45 middle school students signed up to help at the St. Joseph's Table this weekend (both Saturday and Sunday).
The help we receive from our students for these events is invaluable and very much appreciated.

8th Religion: We went to the chapel last week and prayed the Stations of the Cross together as individual classes.
Chapter test on Wednesday.

7th Religion: We are starting the chapter in our Confirmation books dealing with courage, one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

6th Religion: We prayed the Stations together today in the chapel.
Chapter test on Wednesday.

Have a great week.
