Week of March 8
8th Grade Parents: thank you for your input on the autograph books. The vote was in favor of ordering the books.
8th Religion: We just finished chapter 8 and completed the unit review on Friday. We will begin the next chapter on Monday.
7th Religion: We had a quiz on Thursday and will begin the next chapter in our Confirmaton book.
6th Religion: We are starting a new chapter on Monday.
We will attend Stations of the Cross with grades 5-8 next week. I will also be taking all of my classes at some time to do the Stations as a class.
I hope to see you on Thursday night at the Volunteer Dinner.

Week of March 1
Reminders: Graduation pictures for 8th graders on Tuesday.
Progress reports were sent home on Friday. They must be signed and returned by Tuesday.
7th Grade Parents: We will be ordering Confirmation gowns on Wednesday. If you have a red Confirmation gown that was used at St. Juliana from an older sibling, relative, or neighbor and it fits your 7th grader, please feel free to not order a new one. You can then deduct $20.00 from the Confirmation fee. If your child tells me on Wednesday that they are not ordering a gown, that is fine.
8th Religion: Chapter test on Tuesday. I am looking forward to our field trip to the Holocaust Museum on Wednesday.

7th Religion: Confirmation preparation is going well.
6th Religion; we are studying some of the rituals and symbols of our faith.
8th Vocabulary: tests (spelling) on Wednesday and Thursday (book test).

Week of February 15
Permission slips were sent home with all 8th graders for our field trip on March 3rd to the Illinois Holocaust Museum. Please return them to me with the form and the fee.
8th Religion: Test on Friday--Chapter 8.
7th Religion: Service projects have started and seem to be going well. We have started our second chapter. I sent a letter with lots of Confirmation information on last Friday. If you haven't seen it yet, please ask your 7th grader where it might be.
6th Religion: We talked about Lent yesterday and will begin a new chapter tomorrow.
8th Vocabulary: Lesson 10 due on Friday. Test next week.

Week of February 1
It was great to see so many of you at Open House yesterday. The students were very proud of their Science projects so I am glad that so many of you were able to see them.
We are participating in a fund raiser for Haiti. Each student who donates at least $1.00 is able to wear any hat all day on Wednesday. (after Mass). I talked about this in all religion classes today and explained that we are working with Our Lady of Hope parish who has an anonymous donor who will match any funds donated. What a great opportunity for us. Some of the students are already planning their hats for Wednesday!!!
We are starting new chapters in all classes.
We are excited about the circus on Thursday.

There are still a few students that haven't sent the money and form for the school field trip on February 4th. Please do this by Wednesday.
6th Religion---Test on Chapter 8 on Wednesday. On Thursday we will be writing "blessing" prayers.
7th Religion-- We have been discussing service projects for Confirmation. The students need to tell me on Friday what they are planning to do for their project. We have started the Confirmation book.
8th Religion---We are working on a self-esteem project that we will finish up on Wednesday. They will be hanging in the hall for Open House so be sure to see them.

Please remember to send the form and money for the in-school field trip on February 4th. We are very excited about the circus coming to Saint Juliana and know it will be a wonderful day for everyone.

8th Grade: Release forms from the high schools MUST be brought to us by Tuesday, January 12th. We are not able to do any of the work for the high schools without these forms. Thank you for your support with this.
6th Religion: Test Tuesday.

8th Religion: Test Wednesday.
8th Vocabulary: Tests tomorrow and Wednesday.
All 8th graders are writing an essay about what their Catholic education means to them. These essays are due on Friday. Some of the essays will be chosen to be read by the students at the Masses on the weekend of Catholic Schools Week. Other essays will be chosen to be read over the PA that week. We are looking forward to reading the students' essays. The essays should be 3-5 paragraphs in length and must be typed and handed in on Friday.

Happy new year to everyone. I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas holidays.
6th Religion: we started a new chapter today that deals with the Ten Commandments.
7th Religion: we started a new chapter today about the sacraments of Marriage and Holy Orders. We will begin our Confirmation books next week.
8th Religion: we will be starting a new chapter tomorrow that will deal with the development of the church in the middle 300's.
8th Vocabulary: new lesson starts tomorrow and will be due at the end of the week.

Nursing Home
We took the 8th graders to the Forest Villa nursing home this afternoon to deliver the gifts from the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Once again, I am honored to be one of their teachers. They were so wonderful with the residents of the nursing home and I was so proud to be with them. As I have said many times, thank you for sharing your wonderful sons and daughters with us!!!! They are great!!!
