ART-A YEAR IN REVIEW
It has been a pleasure seeing all of the children this year in Art class. All classes met once a week for 25 to 45 minutes depending on grade level. Below is a listing of some of the projects we worked on:
Kindergarten: Painted pumpkin patterns; Kandinsky color circles; Eric Carle inspired Snowmen painting; Leo Lionni "A Color of His Own" painting; Tissue Paper Butterflies.
1st: Fall Leaves watercolor; Winter scene painting; Mardi Gras masks; Tissue Paper flowers; Dog Directed Drawings.
2nd: Fall Leaf Stamp; Snowman close up perspective painting; van Gogh Sunflower paintings; Alleluia cross; My Bright Smile Contest.
3rd: Fall Foilage painting; Camel Wisemen Silhouettes; van Gogh Sunflowers painting; Scratch Art; Chalk Art.
4th: Day of the Dead Skeleton paintings; Sunset Silhouettes; Mirror Image Name Designs Chagall; Design a Stamp Smithsonian U.S. Postal museum; Grand canyon oil pastels.
5th: Haunted Houses mixed media; Picasso Faces oil pastels; Color and Design Collage; van Gogh Landscapes; Adobe Mexican Houses chalk pastels.
6th: 1/2 magazine portraits pencil sketch; Silent Night Winter Trees painting; Emotion portraits; Wild & Wacky Hairline drawings; Aztec Warriors.
7th: van Gogh Still Life colore pencils; 1/2 face actual/abstract self portraits; Ted Harrison Layered Landscapes; Mirror Image Name Design Chagall; Rouault inspired Royalty portraits oil pastels.
8th: Manger Scene Chalk pastels; van Gogh Starry Night interpretation; Celtic design Book of Kells; Rouault inspired Royalty portraits oil pastel; Memory Lane sketch.
All grades participated in the Golf Mill Christmas Tree Decorating Contest by making Gingerbread children ornaments. The 6th, 7th, and 8th grades used the Mobile Computer labs to visit the Smithsonian Art Museums and the Hall of Presidents Gallery portraits.
