FYI: Today is the last day for FSP Hot Lunch for this year. Please remember to bring your lunch next week.

FOOTBALL:
Football forms and tentative schedule has been handed out to your 4th, 5th, 6th, or 7th grade son. Please return the form and fee ASAP. Your check will not be cashed until the second week of July. Also, please follow the schedule for practice dates and times.

GIRLS BASKETBALL:
The schedule will be completed over the summer. Practice will start on Monday, August 27th. Please be aware that there are Saturday and/or Sunday practices, with 5th and 6th grades on Saturday, 9:00-10:00am and 10:30-12Noon. 7th grade practice will begin with the attendance at 7:30am Mass and run 8:30-10:15am. 8th grade practice will begin with the attendance at 9:00am Mass and run 10:15-11:30am. Your daughters are expected to attend all practices especially if it is a practice just before a game. If they don't attend, the missed practice will affect their playing time.

CHEERLEADING:
Information will be handed out the first week of school. At this time, all football games are on Saturday, except the last game of the season which is a Queen of All Saints, Sunday, October 21st, 2012.

Mrs. Smolinski, mother of Mark in 8th grade, presented Mrs. Barton with a banner that she made for the Class of 2012. The banner will be used as the backdrop for the graduation photos that are taken in the gym after the ceremony. Thank you, Mrs. Smolinski, for your gift to the class of 2012.

A reminder that the May payment must be received by the end of the day tomorrow, May 25, in order to avoid a late charge. This is the final payment of the 2011/2012 school year.

The first statement for the 2012/2013 school year will be sent home the week of June 4 to all families who do not have a balance due for 2011/2012. No tuition payments for the new school year will be accepted until the current year is paid in full.

Please remember that the first payment (due June 25) of the year is always non-refundable. We rely on these funds to make advance purchases of books and supplies at a discount over the summer months.

St. Juliana's varsity girls’ softball team defeated Queen of All Saints in the championship game on May 22nd. Ms. O’Malley, Mr. Reardon, and Mr. Bottalla were the coaches for the team. Great season, ladies!

Each year the school makes a scrapbook of the school year. These books represent activities , celebrations, events, and daily classroom work. The books are used at Open Houses, class reunions, graduations and other gatherings. It is a great way to show off our school. Scrapbook materials can be expensive . If you scrapbook and have left over material and supplies we would really appreciate the donation. Please drop them off at the school office.

St. Juliana School offers a great program where families can exchange gently used uniforms that are too small for the next size larger, and drop off school apparel that is no longer in use. You can use this opportunity to do an “even-exchange” for blouses, tops, polos, pants, skirts, jumpers for another item in a different size or style. If you are in need of additional uniforms you may also purchase any of the donated items for a very small fee. Money collected goes directly into the Mother’s Club fund. Exchange Dates: Wednesday, June 6th, after school 3:00 - 5:00pm and Thursday, June 7th , 5:30 - 7:30pm in the school hall.Click here for more information regarding this program.

Mr. O'Flaherty was the "Principal for the Day." He spent the day shadowing Mrs. Barton. He gave everyone a no homework pass for tonight!

May Crowning is today at 2:00pm.

In 8th grade social studies, the students cover an economics unit. To close the unit, the students create an econ poster about 1 of the 6 fundamental concepts. Mrs. Nelson then enters the posters into the Econ Illinois Poster Contest. Clare B. and Giuliana C. were award winners for our region. Clare moved on to the state level and received an Honorable Mention. Others that received certificates are Lily H., Mary Pat F., Christina H., Ann M., and Eileen M. Great Job!

To save paper and money, the Blacktop Ball auction catalog is offered here for download. Printed copies will be available in limited quantities during the event. The committee requests that you review the electronic copy ahead of time or on the auction device the night of the event, or print a copy to bring to the event with you.

On May 5, 2012 Josie O. represented our school at the Illinois State Science Fair. The science fair is held at the University of Illinois every year. To qualify, students have to score in the top of their category at the regional science fair which was this past March. Four students from St. Juliana competed at regional and all four received a gold award. Josie’s project was about bread mold. She tested how long it would take for different types of bread to mold and looked closely at the ingredients that could cause the bread to mold at different rates. Congratulations, Josie!

Below is a list of children by grade that I have received orders/payment for school box kits for 2012-2013. If you ordered online directly from schooltoolbox.com, your name will not be on this list but you will still pick up your kit at the school in August(date to be determined) as usual.

If your name is not on this list, that means I have not received your order/payment and you will not get a kit in August. If you sent in your money to the school and your name is missing from the list please contact me by Friday 5/11 so we can find out where your order/check may be and get your order in to the company. I am trying to avoid having lost orders/parents showing up in Aug to pick up supplies and they're order was lost/never received/not processed.

Look for May tuition statements sent home in your childs backpack today. Also, If you are a current school family and have not yet submitted your registration form for next year, a form was sent home.

Just a reminder this month is the last market day sale of the school year, so stock up on all your summer favorites.
