Hopefully, this cycle will be recalled next year for the Terra Nova tests!!!!

This will be an on-going project now for a while. Any books from the Library or old encyclopedias or any on-line info may also be brought in to use to gather the info needed.
We talked about "Child Lures" today during our normally scheduled Religion class. We are currently working on a "Safety Backpack" that we are filling with lots of good hints to keep us safe out there!

Our caterpillars remain the hot topic! Today almost all of them are making their way to the top of the cup. There they will attach themselves and start to form their chrysalis. They will remain up there for 7-10 days at which time they will burst out and be beautiful butterflies. Let's hope I can make the transfer from the small jar to the larger observational container without dropping any!!! Anybody have hollyhocks growing in their yard? I hear that is what they love to eat.
We have enough passes to be out of uniform for every Thursday and Friday!!!!
Our homework for tonight is:
Math-flashcards! We took our first timed test with 100 problems today! Some finished before the five minutes was up! They are feeling much better about learning the facts. Many had only a few rows left. We shall see what the results are as soon as I can get them corrected.

It is amazing how a 'Spark" of imagination works.
We are all going to have a chance to crown Mary in our room. Yesterday, Morgan and Jake had a turn. Today Bridget and Braden. Such angels!!!
We finished our day with a beautiful movie about butterflies. We learned the names of the stages a butterfly goes through starting from the egg on. We saw how they migrate over 2000 miles down to Mexico for the cold winter months. We found out they are becoming endangered but...we also found out how to help save them! Who remembers???

Many thanks to our Art Moms for a great year of learning about artists and enjoying art. Kudos to Mrs. Gallagher, Mrs. Chruszczyk, Mrs.Keefe for coming in today to help us. The fruit kabobs from Mrs. Chruszczyk were delicious!!! Hopefully, the children will have a greater love for art after our Field Trip to the Art Institute and hands-on-art classes here at school. It is the most important thing for them to know going into third grade BESIDES the math facts. So please go on ixl.com and do some double-digit work tonight and keep it up. Some forgot how to add double-digits because we have been concentrating on subtracting them! And that is just over a three week time span! So....you can imagine what they forget over the summer months!
All the Communion Banners and projects went home today. Look for them. I mentioned to the children that in the past we had to make a box to keep all the Communion things in but this year it was not a requirement but it would be nice to keep them as a memento of the day.
