Thoughts from 32!!!

Our homework for tonight is:

Math-flashcards! Really spend some time on them. Some are not progressing at all. Try a different method! Sing them, jump them, write them, use ixl.com or any other website that has practice of the facts.

Reading/Spelling- Complete Backpack page 99.

Handwriting-Finish the pages we started in school. Be sure to touch the proper lines. Our Superkids alphabet is slightly different than the old Zaner-Bloser we used to use. This one hardly ever lifts the pencil from the page!

Religion-Test will be on Wednesday now! Go on blestarewe.com and take the Ch. 14 test!

FYI:Everyone did a great job on Saturday! Our prayers were answered!!! NO RAIN for our procession. Congratulations to our readers, Tommy, Owen, Sophia, and to Fiona for carrying up the Hosts for us. What a great job you did. I think we were the BEST!!! :-)

Thanks for the birthday treat, Ryan! How fun to have your birthday and Communion on the same day!

Please sign and return all the tests that went home today! Some were still having some difficulty with the double-digit subtraction. I have met and gone over all the material again with a retest for those who needed it. Please staple all three tests together for me before returning.

Thoughts from 32!

Our homework for tonight is:

Math-flashcards! Mrs. Denver sent home a sheet with a detailed explanation of your child's results and how to help them study if they have not been passing.Knowing the facts will make math much more enjoyable for your child! Trust me!

Religion-Test on Ch. 14 on Tuesday! You may want to go on blestarewe.com and take a sneak preview of what the test will be like! Be prepared to write a prayer of thanks to God for the gift of the Eucharist!

Reading-AR?

FYI: We have been busy practicing for our big day on Saturday! Keep those prayers coming. The forecast looks glum! But we will have sunshine in our hearts no matter what. Please, please make a concerted effort to be in room 32 by 10:30. We need those first 15 minutes for picture taking--then we begin to line up at 10:45 for our procession. In the event of rain, meet in the balcony of church!

We are out of uniform tomorrow as stated earlier. We have so many out of uniform passes that we do have enough to be out of uniform once a week until the end of the school year. We just have to decide if it is Thursday (gym day) or Friday. Think about it and we will vote in the morning!

Today we finished reading "Heaven is for Real" by Todd Burpo. We have totally enjoyed each and every chapter. Many want to take the AR quiz on it but since it is so long I am afraid they may not pass it. We do have a children's version the book, which Christina will read to us tomorrow, that they may take a test on as well. Anyone who wants a glimpse of heaven should read this book!!!!

Enjoy the night! See you at 10:30 on Saturday!!!

Thoughts from 32!!!

Our homework for tonight is:

Math-study the subtraction facts from your flashcards in particular. We will be testing soon on them.

Handwriting-please finish up to o in the cursive book. Please be careful to touch all the proper lines.

FYI:Thanks to Fiona,Sophia, Tommy, Christina and Owen for helping us out with the Communion readings and carrying up the Hosts. Everyone is doing a great job! remember what I said, "Read slow and steady and with emphasis!" We do want everyone to hear what we have to say!We will be practicing again on Friday with the CCD kids. Remember, we can come out of uniform for that day using one of our many passes.

We have been working so hard on our Imaginary Stories. Some are really getting the hang of Beginning, Middle and End. Who knows, we may have a budding author and or illustrator amongst us!

We are all praying very hard from now until Saturday, that the scheduled rain will hold off so we can process over to church like we have always done. But...in case our prayers are not answered for whatever reason, then we all will meet in the balcony of the church. We then will have a short procession down the stairs. (I have never had to do this yet, so...keep those prayers coming!!!)

Thoughts from 32!

Our homework for tonight is:

Math-flashcards! You can see the latest results today! I was comparing both tests and interestingly, many have dropped down again! YIKES!!! We have approximately 34 days to get to be proficient!!!This will be such a help for your child entering third grade. Please devote as much time as it takes!

Please complete the math pages, started with the sub today. One of the reasons it takes so long to get through these pages is the fact that the math facts are not memorized.

Reading-No Backpack pages while we are Unit Testing. Use the night to read an AR book and take a test.

FYI:Mrs. Weyna took my place this afternoon while I attended a SUPERKIDS meeting. I met lots of other teachers who use the same program. Some came from as far as Indiana!
We are all convinced our classes are also SUPERKIDS!!!

We will be practicing in Church tomorrow and Wednesday for Communion. Readers be ready! I have heard you all read and you are doing a great job.

We will come out of uniform on Friday. We will be having our last practice for Communion that day with the CCD kids.

Thoughts from 32!

Our homework for tonight is:

Reading-Read the remaining stories in the Super magazine.Finish the 3-page Super Magazine Packet that went home with the magazine.
Be ready to write an imaginary story for me. Be thinking of the setting, main characters, plot and resolution to your story. Remember, all stories have a little excitement in the middle or something that goes wrong and then somehow gets resolved and ends with a great closing sentence! Here's your chance to show your creativity!!!

Spelling-Backpack p.98. Study for the test.

Math-flashcards!

FYI:We illustrated our favorite part from the play today. We had a "Cursive-paloosa." Who remembers what that is? Share with your parents! Next time it will be a "Math-a-paloosa!"

We have been so busy getting ready for Communion. The last of the banners came in today. How beautiful they all are. They will proudly be displayed in Church for our big day. I have two moms that have kindly offered to come in to help me on Friday morning. If anyone else wants to come just let me know. We have banners to hang and papers to hang on the glass doors.

Thoughts from 32!

Our homework for tonight is:

Math- flashcards! Can't wait to find out how we did today!

You can go on ixl.com and do some subtraction with and without regrouping H2 and H3. See how you do! Remember to ask the "All important question"--"In the ones column, ask yourself, Is the number on the Bottom Bigger than the one on the top? If yes, you need to Borrow (regroup)." That is the BBB RULE! Some are onto it already, others still need to use the manipulatives.

Reading/Spelling-Backpack pages 96 and 97.

FYI:Thanks to Mrs. Heneghan and Mrs. Battaglia for chaperoning our Field Trip today. Everyone seemed to enjoy the play. It followed our book exactly! Be prepared to write and illustrate your favorite part tomorrow when you come in.

We had a Water Ceremony with Fr. Steve today. He explained a lot about the sacraments we have already received and also about Communion. We all received Holy Water from him that is to be used to bless family members and themselves, especially on the morning of Communion. Remember, it is holy, blessed water. We also got to smell the special oils used during Baptism and Confirmation.

We do not bring our lunches to the play tomorrow, just to clear up some questions. We will eat at 11:30ish when we arrive back here at school.

Tomorrow after we eat we are going to meet with Fr. Steve to talk about Communion and he will be giving all the children Holy Water
so they can bless you all on the day of Communion.

I still have 4 people who have not handed in their Communion Fee. Please do so tomorrow.

Also, I am missing 4 report cards. Please return them tomorrow.

Enjoy the night!

Thoughts from 32!!!

Our homework for tonight is:

Math-flashcards! Timed-Test tomorrow!

Reading/Spelling-Do Backpack p.95 and keep at home so you know the spelling words. You may even want to go on spellingcity.com and learn them through games!

FYI:We had some fun in computer lab again today! We were working on dividing compound words. Also, those who finished quickly were able to play some educational games with friends. What a nice way to learn!

Thanks to those who sent their Communion Fees and the DVD money in already. Many thanks, also, to those who have completed and sent in their banners for Communion already! They are all due in here by Wednesday. The ones we have presented already are great! Such talent we have in here.

Field trip on Wednesday! We will eat lunch when we get back so eat a hearty breakfast since it will be a later lunch than usual! We will wear our uniforms to make us be more identifiable.

Thanks to Danny who gave us some more prizes for our Treasure Chest. Wow,I think that is your second or third contribution to our chest! Anyone who has not given a donation to the Treasure box can still do so! Thanks also for the beautiful Communion bookmarks you gave everyone Dan, including Mrs. Curtin and I!!(We were glad to see Mrs. Curtin come back today after having been out so long with her broken arm.)

Enjoy the crisp night!

Thoughts from 32!

Our homework for tonight is:

Math-flashcards! 29% have finally passed the test which is still below what I wish it was but at least it is better than the 6% passing last time!!!

Spelling-Study for the test tomorrow! Go on spellingcity.com and type in my name and the words will come up. We had a demonstration by Sophie on how to go on. So everyone should be able to master it now. It is a lot of fun and you learn your spelling words while playing games! Should I ever neglect to put on the spelling words you can always type them in yourselves.

Handwriting-Those who did not finish their cursive pages today, must do so at home. We are under a time crunch! Only 38 days of school left!

FYI:All Rice Bowl Money is due tomorrow. Pictures or the money for the pictures is also due tomorrow.

We had a lot of fun making our Easter Triduum pyramid this afternoon. Hopefully, it is a reminder of the three Holy Days this week. They were actually very easy to make. You can make them from any size square! (it MUST be a square though, otherwise it will not fit together nicely)

Enjoy the nice weather before the frost comes again!

Thoughts from 32!

Our homework for tonight is:

Religion-Study ch. 7&8 for a test tomorrow. Study your flashcards! Also know the order of receiving Holy Communion. Your Mobile is due tomorrow. Be sure you have retold the 8 stories the pictures represent before you bring it in.

Math-Some did not finish the pages we started in school so they must be completed at home. Memorization of the facts is so helpful!

Reading/Spelling- Complete Backpack p. 93. These can be tricky!!! Be sure to listen for the "context clues" when the sentence is given for both the words on the spelling test and the sentence dictation on the back!!

FYI: Thanks to everyone who volunteered to be our chaperones. I really appreciate your willingness! Congrats to Mrs. Battaglia and Mrs. Heneghan who were pulled out to be our chaperones!!! Hope you can stay through lunch as well. Thanks, again!

Thoughts from 32!

Our homework for tonight is: Reading/Spelling - Complete and keep Backpack Pages 91+92.

Religion-Study ch.7& 8 for a test on Wednesday.Study your flashcards for those chapters! Hint, hint.

Math-flashcards! No worksheet tonight! We will be starting subtraction for the 4th quarter. It took us so long to do addition that we MUST move onto subtraction. Only 40 days left to learn all the facts! I always say, "If you know the addition facts, subtraction is easy. You just plug in the missing addend!"

FYI:Thanks to our ART MOM Mrs. Gallagher who
talked to us today about Hirosige, a Japanese artist who made prints by carving out designs from wood to be used over and over again. We had an opportunity to make some prints of our own. They look great!

Your Rice Bowl money can start coming in now. Thursday is the absolute last day. Thanks to all who made a sacrifice throughout Lent by putting money in the bowl instead of some treat or item not necessarily needed.Hopefully the children learned that "It is in giving that we receive!"

The mobile Communion Project is due Wednesday. Thanks to those who brought it in early! See if you can secure the ribbon or yarn in such a way that it is not sliding all over, OK? The next project is the beautiful banner that will be hung in Church on the day of Communion and the following Sunday.Be sure to iron the Banner before you bring it to me. Please pin it to a hanger that you will not get back and cover it with plastic, in case it is raining when we go over with them. I will need some volunteers to help put up the banners on the Friday before Communion.So...if you are not having a party at your place and feel you can devote about an hour or so to help, let me know. Many hands make light work.

Enjoy the nice night!

Reminder from 32!

We will be having a Penance Service Monday morning at 9:15. Be thinking of what sins you want to confess! Remember--"Bless me Father, for I have sinned. This is my second confession. (this will let him know to guide you through, since it is only your second time!)I...
