Math-Mrs. Denver's sheet of facts. Let's see who can pass the test next time!
Religion-a blue sheet and a yellow sheet of construction paper went home today. Please trace your right hand on yellow and your left hand on the blue and then cut it out. Write your name on the palm of the blue one and the name of a person in our Church family on the palm of the yellow one. It can be priests, altar servers, readers, Mrs. Shiel, Ms. Francisco, ushers, choir, Eucharistic Minister, etc. We will connect them into a garland here at school. Print neatly and large enough to be read as you pass by it in the hall!
Reading-Practice that fluency page that went home!!! Read with expression and emphasis where needed.
FYI:Thanks to Super Scientist Danny who taught us about reflective light using the aluminum foil. That was cool the way you could see your own face and then not on the crinkled piece. The picture I took of you even proved your point!!!
We received a glow in the dark basketball and a butterfly net this morning. Some monetary contributions are coming in too. That way we can put some money together to buy a larger item that will bring more for the basket! Thanks so much!!!
I wish I could be with all my Volunteers tomorrow morning for the continental breakfast but....I have some students who need me up here! I hope you enjoy the breakfast and chit chatting with friends. Math-Mrs. Denver's worksheet. Only one student passed the test again!!!YIKES!!!!! Hats off to Tommy! Please share your techniques!!!!
FYI:We had so much fun in the computer lab today! Check out Mrs. Granata's website for a glimpse into our fun. Everyone was joining each other's game to have a race. It was involving Math, Spelling, Reading.
What a way to learn and have fun at the same time!
Thanks to Mrs. Simonetti, we learned about Gustav Klimt today during ART MOM class. He was an Art Nouveau painter from the 19th century. How fun to create our own patchwork quilt using crayon resist technique. It was fun to see the crayons resist the water colors. How bright they are--just in time for spring! Thanks again!
Look for the results of the UNIT test. Sign and return. I am very impressed with them!
Our homework for tonight is:
Math-Mrs. Denver's sheet. Some are asking if that counts for the "stamp" as far as doing your flashcards----the answer to that is NO! Flashcards should be a minimum of 15-20 minutes. Proudly, everyone seems to be able to do the sheet in less than two minutes. The times just don't equal, so...
Reading/Writing-PLEASE finish drawing the illustrations for your story on computer printer paper (the tall way).
FYI:We had some fun today telling each other what nationalities we were! Some even showed us some ethnic dances and ethnic songs and some even played some ethnic instruments! What a wonderful melting pot we have here!!!
Be sure you tell me what you are bringing in for the OUTDOOR FUN basket so I can keep everyone informed of what we have so we don't repeat anything. So far, we have a big box of sidewalk chalk,a jump rope, a junior football, soccer ball and a basketball set and some bubbles.
If we get 100% participation, we get some kind of class prize so be sure to have me check you off!!!
Enjoy your days off!
Our homework tonight is:
Math-Mrs. Denver's fact sheet. Memorization is the key!
Religion-draw the gifts from God in the little Mass booklet. Also, the next Communion Project went home today. You have to draw the Last Supper. You can look at the sample shown or you can look in any other religious book you may have or even Google The Last Supper. Be sure to draw it the wide way as it allows more room to fit all those people. You may want to sketch your ideas on another piece of paper to eliminate erasing on the good copy. Use crayons or colored pencils and take your time to make this a memorable picture. It is due next Wednesday. It is not something you can start the night before as it involves a lot of detailed drawing!
Reading-Finish the cover for your Personal Story on the construction paper I sent home. You may also do your illustration papers at home as well. Use what ever you like, but keep it the same throughout the book. Hopefully, then tomorrow we can assemble the pages into your book and present it to the class.
FYI: I am very pleased again with the results of the Unit Test. We are indeed SUPERKIDS!!!
Thanks to those who volunteered to read for our Second Grade Presentation of the Stations of the Cross. Read over your lines and bring that paper back and forth unless you have a copy machine and can make one to stay at home! Be sure to read slow and loud and emphasize those italicized words. And don't forget the ten second pause!!!
Enjoy the warm weather!!!
Our homework for tonight is:
Religion-read over the pages we did today and be sure to concentrate on the two Vocabulary Words we highlighted.
Morning Prayer Project due tomorrow.
Math-Mrs. Denver's worksheet. Everyone felt a lot better after completing today's timed-test! Here's hoping! She hasn't returned last week's tests yet, but I am sure they are on their way!
Reading-A great night to get some AR points!
FYI:We are still very busy completing the Unit Test and I am very pleased with the results I have seen thus far! We are also writing a personal story of something that happened to them. On the Unit Test, be prepared to write the beginning of your personal story for me. (Not a full story but just the beginning parts where you describe the setting and the characters involved in this story.)
Mass is tomorrow. No out of uniform passes!
Look for the pink sheet. It is the form needed to make your Communion! Hand back as soon as possible.
Enjoy the weather after school today! Don't forget your sunblock this time!!!!
Our homework for tonight is:
Math-do the sheet sent home by Mrs. Denver. It is not a timed test but you may want to record how long it takes your child to finish the test. Hopefully, the time will lesson with much practice. Some may want to make copies of this before you begin and later make it a timed-test on your own to get your child used to a one minute drill test. We will correct them tomorrow in class.
Religion-Study the lessons covered today. The Morning Prayer Project is due Wednesday. Thanks to those who sent theirs in early!!
Handwriting- because we had "Buddies" today, some did not get a chance to finish their cursive h page. They had to finish it at home.
FYI:We are testing all week,so we have a break from our usual routine. Enjoy! Might be a good time to go ahead to the Library and take some AR books out and read, read, read!
We got our first "Outdoor Fun Basket" contribution today from Meghan.Chalk and bubbles! Thanks Meg! I will try to keep abreast of the donations, so that we don't get repeats in the basket. Let's make ours the best one!!!
Our Easter Basket for the poor girl has now turned into two!!! So two girls will be enjoying your items! Thanks so much! We are teaching our children the ways of social justice! This is an important lesson especially during this Holy Communion year! Thanks to all for your generosity!
Our homework for tonight is:
Math--flashcards! No progress seen. Next week we have homework in flashcards from Mrs. Denver!
Please do p.213-214 at home. I hope everyone has a dice at home! Otherwise, make a spinner using a pencil and a paper clip.
Religion-Today an explanation went home about the next project due on Wednesday. I stressed to the children that this should not be a rushed project. I am hoping everyone does a neat job copying the words to the Morning Prayer found on p.97 in your Communion Book. There is no room for spelling errors!!!! Do this as neatly as you can.
Spelling-Study for the Test!
FYI: Christina is helping me out today as our Star. (She got gypped out of a day during her reign!) Thanks, Christina!
We read a cute story about Three Wishes. Be prepared tomorrow to write down three of your own wishes. Make them good!!!
Look for a note put out by the Blacktop Ball Committee. It is our next request of you. We are filling a basket with Outdoor fun stuff which will be auctioned off at the Ball. Details are on the note. Sorry it is so close to the Easter Basket Stuff!!! But I already know of your generous hearts!!!!
Congratulations to Mrs. Calumet!!!! She had a little girl, Emily yesterday!!! God bless you all!
Our homework for tonight is:
Handwriting-finish that cursive t page we started in school. Remember to say, "one, two, I made a u!" (that way you will remember to touch the midline two times---otherwise you will be making an i.)
Religion-Go over the pages we did in school today. Know the vocab. words. Use your flashcards from Ch. 1-4 to double check yourself. Finish pp.10-16 in the little Mass booklet. Bring everything back to school. I will be checking the story boxes you did last night tomorrow.
Math-test on sums greater than 10 tomorrow!
FYI: Wow, Sam was grateful for a lot of things today! Nice job, Sam.
Thanks to Scientist Owen for a great demonstration on the refraction of light! That was so cool. That is one everyone could do at home!
Thanks to those who have sent in items for our little 7-8 yr. old poor girl. She is going to love our basket. I will be going out this weekend to purchase a basket to place all these items in.
We received sad news today that Mrs. Hudson's daughter, Carol died this afternoon. Mrs. Hudson worked here as our previous vice-principal.Please keep her in your prayers tonight.
