Thoughts from 32!

Our homework for tonight is:

Math-flashcards.ixl.com has some regrouping exercises if you need practice regrouping. I think it is G2-G4-G6

Religion-Next Communion Project went home today. We discussed how to go about it in class. Be neat!Due: One week from today!
Also, finish p.37 in the Communion book. Please add color to make the pictures beautiful!
You should always go over the material we studied in class on a nightly basis. Use the flashcards from lessons 1-4 to know the vocabulary. (It is marked on the bottom of your vocab. cards what chapter it is from.)We are practicing our responses for Mass. Everyone should be able to say the proper responses to the priest.

Reading/Spelling-do backpack page 77 and return it to school. Hopefully all will remember so Sammi can stamp our sheets. You may want to go on spellingcity.com and play some fun games to prepare for Friday's Test.

FYI:Sam had a cute note from mom and a POEM from dad today. How sweet! A poet amongst us!!! Keep up the good work for me Sam! Let's hope everyone does their homework so you can get to stamping right away in the morning!

Our homework for tonight is:

Reading-Read the Backpack page for fluency. Be sure to emphasize the underlined words and try to read with expression.Finish the Book Club paper with the Tornado vocabulary words on it.

Math-flashcards.

Spelling-Study for the test! You may want to go on spellingcity.com

FYI:Today we heard Sammi's favorite book--Go Dog Go. She did a great job reading it for us. Some are even able to take an AR test on it.

Remember, those who haven't turned in your bookmark, tomorrow is the last day. We saw some great designers!

We have lots of "table talk" for tonight! See who remembers the book I read during SSR time today.

Everyone finally got a chance to feel like Henry "Box" Brown. Explain it!

Also, it will be fun to finish our Book Club Book, Tornado. Who remembers why the dog is called Tornado?

Thoughts from 32!

Our homework for tonight is:

Math-flashcards! Sums greater than 10!

Handwriting-finish any unfinished letters and then do the review page for i and t.

Religion-put the stickers on the Farmer and the Seeds pages. Reread what we have done in class. Pay attention to highlighted areas.

Reading/Spelling-backpack page 75 went home today. Study the words.

FYI: Sam is our very last Star of the Week. Thanks for being so patient, Sam! She was here bright and early and ready to stamp those who were deserving of a stamp or two. Off to a great start!

Today a letter went home about Vision and Hearing Screening. Hearing testing is required for those entering 3rd grade. Please note the due date!

Thanks again to Max's mom who gave us a coloring page now besides the other things in the goodie bag! I needed a new brush!

Some of the tests have not been returned to me as of yet. I am still missing the last Chapter Test, Review Test and Quick Check and the last Religion Test which was a redo for all but five students. Thanks to those of you who returned them on time even without the Sign and Return Stamp on them!!!!!

Our homework for tonight is:

Math-flashcards!

Spelling-Study for the test.

Religion-Reread the Standing on Holy Ground pages 22-23. Instructions for the next project went home. Please save the remainder of the poster board for the next project! Sometimes poster board has a shiny side and a dull side. I recommend the dull side as it does not smear as easily. Here's your chance to show your creativity! Please remember to put your name on the back so I can enter it into my grade book properly.




FYI:Ryan was busy stamping everyone who did their flashcards today. Thanks Ryan!

We had to take a retake of Ch. 1 and 2 Test today as only 5 people passed!!!!! Results will be coming home shortly. (It was a little tricky!!)

Thoughts from 32!

Our homework for tonight is:

Math-flashcards! No one passed the last test!!!!Be sure to do your flashcards so Ryan can stamp you in the morning!

Religion- Be sure to discuss what you will be doing for Lent with your parents! Be ready to write it down for me.Remember to choose something you can do for 40 days!!!We discussed in class and at Mass as well to think of things that would make you be a better person at the end of Lent as well as a sacrifice in some way.
I will send the next project paper home tomorrow.

Reading/Spelling-two backpack pages went home today. One is the fluency page. Be sure to pay close attention to the periods and any exclamation marks or commas.Read with expression!

FYI:Ryan had a beautiful love note today! Who knew he was not only a magician but a creative inventive cook as well? We just might see you in the future on the cooking channel!!!

The Church papers were great! Thanks to those of you who spent the time to make them neat and pleasant to see!

Thoughts from 32!

Our homework for tonight is:

Math-flashcards! Sums greater than 10.

Religion-Study for a test on ch. 1 and 2 in the Communion Book. Know the two stories:The Coming of the Holy Spirit p.2-3 and The Welcoming of the Ark of the Covenant p.12-13. I will send home the flashcards for Ch. 1 and 2. Not everyone has the index cards needed to complete the project here at school.

Ch. 2 Communion Project is due tomorrow. The map of your way to Church.Thanks to those who finished early!

Reading/Spelling-Backpack p.71. Study your Pattern and Memory Words. The paper can stay at home like it states at the top. Use it to study from all week.

FYI:Ryan is our Star this Week! He shared some magic tricks with us. That is how Johnny Carson got started in his career, as a Magician. Who knows, maybe Ryan will be on stage someday!Thanks, Ryan! Loved the top hat!

We had a visitor today that was so impressed with our Superkids here at St. Juliana. That was nice to hear. Everyone was so good!

Thoughts from 32!

Our homework for tonight is:

Math-flashcards!!! Moving on to the sums greater than 10.(Second Grade ones!!!!)Yippeee!!!

Religion-Study Ch 1 and Ch 2 material. We will be having a combined test on them on Wednesday. The Communion book should go home and back daily. Please remember to bring it back! Everyone did a great job finding people who were followers of Jesus.The next project goes home tomorrow.It will be due on the next Wednesday. We will be needing a poster board to make a bookmark and a doorknob hanger later on so....if you are out and about and see a small white poster board you can pick it up and be all set.Also, we will be making flashcards for our Communion vocabulary words so we will need a package of index cards, no lines.

FYI: We had a great note from Jack's mom today! We may have the next pop star right here in Room 32! Who knew he was a singer complete with a microphone? Sweet!

I hope everyone remembers to hand in their homework so Jack has something to stamp!

Math-flashcards! We had only two get 100% on the first grade facts. Let's strive to better that score with tomorrow's test!

FYI: We had great fun at our Valentine's Party! Thanks to Mrs. Simonetti for organizing that special ice cream treat for us! Mrs. Keefe filled in for our other room mom. Thanks to both for a great time! Loved the Match Game!

Jack read us his "third" favorite book today, Marley's Big Adventure.It just so happens to be an AR book as well! So, if you felt you were paying close attention, sign up for a test on it!

Reading-Backpack page 67&68 went home tonight.We are doubling up as there is no school on Friday! Read the letter at the top to see the new changes in the second half of Superkids!

FYI:Jack is our Star this week and he showed us a lot of interesting things today. Thanks for sharing Jack!

Thanks to Mrs. Gallagher who showed us some Georgia O'Keeffe artwork today. We even saw one that we recognized from the Art Institute Field Trip! Someone even recognized one of her pieces from the hallway here at school. We all got a chance to paint with watercolors just like Georgia! We have some great artists in here!

Thoughts from 32!

Our first Communion Project went home today in the tube. Please follow the directions which are also in the tube.It will be due on Wednesday, Feb.15th. All Communion Projects will be given on Fridays and due the following Wednesday. Be sure to put your name on it on the bottom in the middle so you don't crowd yourself out! This is a new program to us this year so it is all different projects than the past years. We are suggesting that a box be designated for all Communion items so that at the end you have quite a nice Memory Box!

If you should get done earlier, please feel free to send it in early! That way we won't have to sit for 21 posters at one sitting!!

Thoughts from 32!

Our homework for tonight is:

Math- Study those tests that went home tonight to help you prepare for the Ch. Test on money tomorrow. Know your coins, front and back and how to count them and how to make change from a set price.

Reading-Be prepared to write the beginning, middle and ending of your favorite book. I have met with everyone on the book report portion of the assignment. Now the actual telling of the story begins!

FYI:We will have to listen to Morgan's Thankful Thursday paper tomorrow. Be sure to leave it in my rocker, Morgan!

Today the megaphones went home to help us spread the news of Jesus! I hope everyone has a chance to share a favorite Bible story with someone tonight using the megaphone!!

We will use one of our many out of uniform passes tomorrow! Thanks Morgan for bringing in three bags full of pop tops!

I forgot to thank Danny for bringing in some great prizes for our treasure chest. They are so great, we are keeping them in our "private stash" just for special occasions!

Our homework for tonight is:
Math-flashcards. Study money for the test tomorrow! Know the coins front and back and be able to count back change from a set number.
ixl.com has some great opportunities. Everyone should be going on this site for practice.

Religion-Draw the picture of your Baptism Day. Be sure to include your Godparents. Everyone should know who their Godparents are!

Reading-Almost everyone has approached me with a book for their report. Some have yet to do so. We will be working on it,for sure, tomorrow.Please have a book and be ready to tell the beginning, middle and ending of your story.

FYI: Morgan read us a cute story about Princesses and what they do. Thanks, Morgan.
We were busy today with tests, but did find time to start an Abraham Lincoln project. We also have been reading our Presidential research Reports out loud which we worked on in the computer lab. We are learning a lot about our past Presidents!

Our homework for tonight is:

Math-flashcards!

Reading-Get reading that book you intend to write your book report from! Some have not yet even decided on a book yet. We will start tomorrow.

Religion-Go over the pages we did in school today. It is a new book for all of us. We will talk more about the responsibility of the parents when we get to that part.


FYI: Unit Testing all week long! No spelling words this week!

Dress warmly! So many were not dressed properly for outdoor play today! We got fooled!!!

Morgan is our Star lady this week! Thanks for helping out with those job assignments. Tomorrow, let's get the stamps out and award those stamps to those who have been diligently doing their flashcards. We need to improve our classroom scores on the first grade ones! Only 9% of the class is passing!!!!!YIKES!!!!
We found out today that Morgan not only wants to be an artist, she may also be a chef!!!Wow!

Our homework for tonight is:

Math-flashcards. Know the coins. Try ixl.com for some fun money exercises.

Spelling-Study for the test.

Reading-Decide what book you want to do your book report on. It has to be approved by me! Be sure it has a Plot/Problem and be sure it can be resolved somehow. NO WIMPY KID books!!! You may certainly choose a chapter book. I know that the Arthur series and Franklin series always have a problem and a resolution.We will begin the formal book report project next week. So get a book and start reading over the long weekend!


FYI: What a sweet note from Adam's parents, sister and DOG!!! Great signature,Lulu!!!

We are out of uniform tomorrow for Student Appreciation Day! It just so happens to fall on the 100th day of school as well!
