Math-Flashcards. Test on the addition facts with an answer less than 10 tomorrow!
Religion-Study for the test!Be prepared to tell one way you can take care of God's Creation.
Reading/Spelling-Do Backpack page 64 and 65 tonight. Return 65.
FYI: Adam read us his fav book:One Monkey Too Many. Thanks Adam! It happens to be an AR book too! If you think you paid close attention, sign up for the test.The quiz number in on the first computer.

I was telling the students that 24 years ago today, I went to the hospital to deliver my son and it was 50 degrees that day too! What a coincidence!!!

Reading/Spelling-Backpack page 63 went home tonight. Keep it home to study from it as it states at the top of the page.
FYI: We learned a lot about Adam this morning.He has his own goal light on a key chain! Thanks for getting all those papers stamped for me Adam.
Tomorrow is Library Day so please let's all try to hand them in on time.
Today we wrote Parent Appreciation letters. Be sure you get yours! Along with that, we discussed some ways to appreciate our parents. Let's see who comes through!
Thursday is Student Appreciation Day! Out of uniform!!!! We will be going to the St. Juliana Talent Show to check out some great talents.
Be ready to take the Religion Test on Ch. 9 on Wednesday. We have been studying it here today so it should be easy!Blestarewe.com has a sneak preview. You can let me know how you do by email right off the website.
Continue to work on coins and counting on and soon we will be counting back change. Everyone should know how to progress from the "coin of the greatest value" on. ie: fifty cents,plus 25 cents =75 cents.
Spelling Test will also be on Thursday so start studying now! Try spellingcity.com!

Math-flashcards! Also, many need to go over the coins and know them front and back. We are practicing how to count coins by tens, fives, and ones starting from the "coin with the greatest value." ixl.com has some money skills that are fun to work on. I would like everyone to go on tonight and practice counting coins.P1,P.2,P.3,P.5,P.12 are great for where we are at right now. (You do not have to do all tonight! But see how far you can get in a twenty minute time.)Remember sign in with your username and password. Otherwise you will get shut down automatically after about three minutes and they do not send me your time spent or results. Username is your first and last name all together with either a 108 or 704or 473,or a 661 after it. Password is your AR number!
Reading-read Backpack p.60 for fluency.
Social Studies-We are talking about customs and traditions in our families. Some do not know any. Great conversation at the table tonight! (Or as I call it "Table Talk.")
FYI: Meghan read us her favorite book today. What a funny book about Officer Buckle and his dog, Gloria! And I do believe it is an AR book as well!
I meant to mention it in class but forgot--I am looking for someone to carry up the water at Sunday's Mass. Let me know if you are going to be there and then I can choose wisely!

FYI: Meghan brought in a lot of interesting things to tell us about herself! Who knew she was such a Blackhawk fan? Great photos, Meg!
I was mentioning about a store that I go to for games and some asked me to put it on the weblog, so.....Marbles, The Brain Store is its name and it is located in Old Orchard by L.L. Bean. It has games that increase thinking power!At least that is what they claim!!!

Reading/Spelling-Backpack p.58 went home today.Study for the spelling test!
FYI:We have been very busy preparing for your visit to our room on Open House Sunday! There is a lot to see!
Don't forget to label the boots somehow. I think, if the weatherman is right, we will all need them tomorrow!
Mass of Acceptance is Sunday at 10:30. You will be called forward as a family to have the congregation pray over you. We practiced some of our responses today.

FYI: We had such a sweet note from Bridget's parents and those pictures were so cute!!!
Thanks to Owen, Adam, and Rocco,( who stepped up and took Jack's place!!!)for doing such a great job reading. I have received many compliments on how outstanding the readers were! YIPPEE! Fiona and Ryan were kind enough to carry up the gifts and tuck that table away for us. Thanks to you two,too!

Math-flashcards. Review the front and back of a penny, nickel, dime and quarter. Can you count by fives? Tens? Can you add two quarters together? Three Quarters? Do you know how many quarters it takes to make $1.00? Can you count up coins in your dad's pocket? You can also go onto ixl.com and do some of the ones pertaining to identification of coins and adding them up as well.
Social Studies-Some wanted to take the name of the Black American they pulled out of the mug to get a "jump start" on their research project. We need to know what they are famous for, date of birth and death, and some interesting facts about your person.Don't forget the picture!
Reading/Spelling--Two backpack pages went home today to make up the work we missed yesterday. They both stay at home, but please complete them.
FYI: Bridget is our Star of the Week. She read us her Giggle Book and we did have some giggles over it! Thanks Bridget! We will get that stamping done in the morning, OK?
Mass of Acceptance is this Sunday at 10:30. Everyone who is making their Communion should come as the congregation will pray for you and your family while we make this Communion journey. Our Commumion books came in today. We will start them pretty soon! They are brand new to us too!
We are still missing 5 letters from whomever they wrote to. I said the names of who they are. We will wait until tomorrow's mail comes in and then open them. Everyone has been so patient in waiting this long. So...
We are hosting the Mass tomorrow at 8:45. Thanks to Owen,Adam,Rocco, and Jack? (If he feels better) and Ryan and Fiona for helping us out with the readings and carrying up the gifts.

Thanks to those who sent back the Religion test and signed it without the stamp! I was so proud to quickly send those results home that I forgot to stamp them with the Parents' Signature stamp! I assured them that you all would know by this time that all tests have to be signed and returned except for the spelling ones.

Friday is the last day to accrue points for AR.
Social Studies-Don't forget to take a good look at the layout of your bedroom. We are going to make a Grid Map about it. Hopefully, tomorrow. You can draw a rough draft on regular paper, in case you forget!
FYI: Tommy, our Star, read us his favorite book about Summer. What a fun book! Makes me miss summer!
What a great poem his family wrote about him. The paper even had stars on it for the Star!!!

FYI:We are still waiting for our letters to return to us. We have 10 so far and are anxious to open them but are waiting for the others to arrive. I hope everyone they wrote to will write back to us as I enclosed a little note that said it was a school project and please write back. Here's hopin'!

Spelling-Pattern Words and Memory Words went home today on Backpack page 51.Please ignore the lines that are running through the page. I have no idea why they are there!Someone mentioned to me that they thought they did not have to study the ones that are lined out. NOT!!! Try going on spellingcity.com for some early practice! I also noticed for all you "Borders" fans that they put up a new game on spellingcity where you place the states in on the map. It is actually a third grade activity but we are so smart in second I am sure you can try it and succeed!
Religion- Study for the test which will come on Wednesday. Be sure to be able to write about two ways you can show you are sorry for sin.
FYI:Tommy was a busy Star this morning. He got everyone stamped for doing flashcards right away! We still have to get those job assignments done tomorrow, Tom!
Thanks to our Art Moms, Mrs. Simonetti and Mrs. Schrieber who told us all about Camille Pissaro who painted the Crystal Palace in 1871. He was an Impressionist painter. Who remembers exactly what that means? I can't wait for your pastel landscapes to dry overnight so I can put them on display for all to see! We have some really great artists blossoming in here!
What a sweet surprise they gave us to eat!
FYI:Monday, January 9. 2012, we will be taking pictures for our yearbook of our many and various groups, teams and clubs. Students are to come in our official school uniforms, no spirit or sports wear. Scouts and teams may bring their shirts to put over their uniforms for pictures. Band students, please bring your band instruments for the pictures.
It is always fun to see who had alumni parents!
Thanks to those who remembered to bring in the stamps and the coffee filters!!! You are great! We have a snowflake-filled room. Now I just have to decide where and how to hang them.I wish I had videotaped the whole process. The wonderment is exciting to eye witness! Try it at home, if you don't mind picking up itsy, bitsy, pieces of coffee filters!!!
Religion books went home in case anyone wanted to get a jump start on the studying.
