FYI:Christina had a very busy week as our Star. We laughed at her love note from mom and dad! Those pictures were great. Thanks for all your help!
Sophia demonstrated her science experiment to us today. She used pressure to create a vacuum allowing the coin to stick to her forehead. That was cool! Thanks for teaching us a little about surface tension which we saw in Christina's experiment as well.

Enjoy your day off!See you back here on Monday with your Halloween colors on. We will have a little fun in the afternoon!

P.S.Sorry for no blog yesterday. Meeting after school and I had an appointment at four. So....by the time I remembered everyone should have been in bed!!!

Reading-Read the Backpack page for fluency. They say if you read it three times you'll be great at it!

FYI:We finally had some extra time to do Christina's Science experiment! That was so cool the way the soap made all the pepper spread out. That is what we call surface tension. Thanks for telling us about the sugar crystals and how they push the soap underneath to allow the pepper to come back together again. Thanks, Christina!

Christina read us her favorite book today--What Makes a Rainbow. So cute. We had to decide between Miss Suzy or the Rainbow book because she had two favorites. I remember Miss Suzy from when I was young! What a blast from the past!!!! Thanks, Christina.

Tomorrow is picture retake day. You may come out of uniform only if you are having your photo redone.

Tomorrow is our Mass. All are welcome to come.

There's a Wocket in my Pocket" and had a sweet love note from home today. Thanks for both! It is hard work to be the Star!

We are very close to finishing our classroom poem. Be thinking of a topic you can write your own poem about, so that when I ask you what you would like to write about you don't say UHMMMM!!! Who remembers how we go about writing this style of free form poetry? (Hint: we started with a list of nouns, then we added adjectives, then we added verbs and finally the adverbs)

Thanks to all who came out to the meeting last night. It is such a special time for you and the communicant. They are so proud to be making their communion. They are especially proud to show off their projects too. Thanks in advance for making this time special.

Two tests went home tonight. Please sign and return both. I was impressed with the Math scores! We will soon be starting regrouping and that is the most difficult concept for some. Hopefully all will eventually get it!

Our homework for tonight is:

Reading-do the two magazine pages 21 and 22.L will love to hear what you want to learn about!

I can't wait to see you as a magician!

Religion-Study for the test. Be sure to know what each of those four saints mentioned did for others. Also be able to write down one good and holy action you can do to follow Jesus.(Remember---it can't be pick up people when they fall down!!!!!!)We know that is a good and holy thing to do and of course, we are all going to do that when or if that ever happens, but in the mean time, we can not wait for something bad to happen to someone else in order to do good!Think of things you might be able to do daily to help others. Study the highlighted parts as well. Remember, blestarewe.com is a great way to take a sneak peek as to what the test will be like.

Math-quickly review those facts! I can really tell who has been memorizing and who hasn't!

FYI: What an exciting day we had! Starting with our Mass being canceled because there was a little squirrel running wild in the church and ending with a Parade for Jesus! We marched around the school singing songs of praise and waving our homemade flags! Who can remember some of the songs we sang?

It would be very helpful if you would either write down the title or the Quiz number for your child so I do not have to stop and do it for them. Thanks in advance.

Thanks also for the prizes that have been coming in for our treasure chest. Today Danny's team won our Religion Jeopardy review game.

Enjoy the day!

FYI: Happy Birthday to Owen! Thanks for the ice cream treat! YUM!!!
Jack performed our first experiment today. He explained how water wicks through the paper toweling and how the water from the mug "escaped" into the green bowl. This is much like plants get their water from the roots.

We have a couple of "table-talk" things tonight. Who remembers the secret to adding 'es' to words? Also, what number keeps reoccurring in today's Bible story?

Hey, let's use one of our out-of-uniform passes tomorrow!!

03 October 2011

Thoughts from 32!

Our homework for tonight is:

Math- a new batch of flashcards went home tonight. Study them. I hope you have the old ones memorized so you can say them "in a flash."

Some had to finish the math page we started in school for homework. This is when knowing your facts comes in handy!

Spelling-Backpack page 19 went home today also. Study those Memory Words, especially the word 'because'. I was mentioning to the class that they can go on spellingcity.com for some fun practice and test taking on the spelling words. Someone told me it is a bit long to go through all the steps to get to my name so some of them just type the words in themselves. I will type them in also but you have to go to USA, then Illinois, then Chicago, then St. Juliana , then to my name. So, try it I think you will like it.

FYI: Mrs. Herion, our Art Teacher said that everyone will need a paint smock for Friday's art class. Everyone should have a smock in their tote bag in my closet by now. This is a reminder, just in case you have forgotten one. An old oversized T-shirt works fine.(Put your name in it-they really do not recognize these smocks you send in!!)
Congratulations to Sophia, who won our Class Bingo Reward. It pays to be nice!
Owen is doing a great job helping me out this week as our Star. Be sure to do your flashcards so he has something to stamp!Love your grandma's art work!!
Today was our new student Jack's first day at St. Juliana! I hope he had a great day with us. Let's continue to make him feel welcome.
Thanks to all who sent your Track-a-thon money in. And double thanks to those of you who filled in the box at the bottom!!!!
We had our first ART MOM lesson today! Thanks to Mrs. Simonetti and Mrs. Schreiber who taught us TEXTURE! Loved that painting!
We had our first fire drill and everyone did a great job.
Enjoy the weather. Get some sun on your face!!
