Thoughts from 32!!
Our homework for tonight is:
Math-finish that page from our Math book. As always, FLASHCARDS!!!
Spelling- Some more wonderful sentences that contain some contractions!!! Study the spelling words. I was looking at spellingcity.com yesterday and they have a new game. (Maybe just to me!) It was catching drips in the bucket. Pretty tricky!!! Also, there was that one that alphabetized our spelling words. That is always helpful. Try it out.
Reading- Today is Wednesday! That means you should have brought home the little pull-out storybook that contains our vocabulary words. See if you can spot them. AR???
FYI: Thanks to Grace who sent in some more prizes for our treasure chest! The kids love those McDonalds prizes!!!
Congratulations!!!! Everyone handed in their first Communion project on time. WOW! That just shows what great parents you are. They were all so unique!!! Fun to see the different ways they were "designed." Now onto the next one due on Wednesday!
Let's use up one of our passes to come out of uniform on Friday!!!! YIPPEEE!!!!
Enjoy the nice weather before it changes!!!

THOUGHTS FROM 32!
Our homework for tonight is:
Reading- Look up the vocabulary words and then read the story Going Batty for Bats. Get the sheet signed!!
Math- Flashcards!!! Many more are progressing! We had 4 finish in under 5 minutes!!! I can tell you are really studying those facts. Some of you are even surprising yourselves!!!
Religion- Projects are due tomorrow. We were able to present about 5 or 6 today and that really helps. I have been forgetting to mention about the parents signing the Family Focus page in the Communion Book. I have mentioned it in class but they do forget by the time they get home. It is on p.13.
FYI:Our Mass for tomorrow has been canceled. We have the Parish Mission Mass going on instead and I doubt that there is room for all of us. So...
We had Mrs. Janos stop in to talk with us again! She is helping us to know how to deal with situations that arise at school, or anywhere for that matter, that make us unhappy.
We were busy making a special tablecloth for the Volunteer Dinner Party. See who remembers! We have some really creative artists in here. Looking forward to seeing you at the dinner and thanking you again for all you do for St.Juliana School. For those of you who can't make it, I will use this opportunity here to thank you very much for the volunteer services you provide this school. Without you, we would not be able to do all that we do for the children.

Our homework for tonight is:
Math-Flashcards!!! Timed test tomorrow!
Science- See if you can find a rock and a piece of sandpaper! If not do not worry about it. Many others can share!
Spelling-Study the spelling words. Long and short vowels are this week's pattern. You may want to get a jump on those sentences. Contractions are our area of concentration this week.
FYI: Thanks to Grace who's father brought home little Koala Bears from Australia for our treasure box. WOW! Did they ever disappear fast! They were so cute. Thanks again!
To all who have brought in goodies for our 8 year old girl, I thank you!!! She will be the luckiest gal in town judging from what has come in so far!!! For those who have not donated, there is still time. I will try to get the basket this week sometime. I better think BIG the way it's going!!!

Our homework for tonight is:
Math--Flashcards!!!
Spelling-Study for the test. All sentences are due!
Reading-Know those vocabulary words! The ones you looked up on Tuesday!
Religion-Communion book went home tonight. You may keep it until Monday, just in case you want to start your project. Remember it is due on Wednesday! Should you get it done earlier, feel free to bring it in! It will be easier than showing all at once on Wednesday.
FYI: I overlooked Kevin as a Station Reader! OOPS!Sorry Kevin! What a great job you are all doing. I hope everyone does as well tomorrow as you did today in practice!
Thanks to those who brought in some Dr. Seuss books to read! That Wacky Wednesday one was indeed wacky!!!
I'd also like to thank everyone who has donated to the Haiti fundraisers! You all have been so generous. Remember, it is in giving that we receive!!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Thoughts From 32!!!
Our homework for tonight is:
Math--Flashcards!!! You may also want to go on ixl.com and get some practice Estimating/Rounding to the Nearest Ten-N1 and N2. We finished that page in school. Those that did not, have to complete it at home.
Reading--Read the little pull-out Storybook that has our Vocab. Words in it. See if you can spot them and circle them! This will help you on your test on Friday.
Handwriting-We finished our first page of joining the cursive letters together. What a great job the students are doing! Those that took a little longer than time allowed must finish that at home too.
Religion-Many are already getting going on the project that is due on Wednesday, March 10. For those who live out of town, consider emailing them for a sweet note. For the Grandparents who live out of town and do not have email, you can always write their dictated words onto the note paper.
FYI: Library books are due tomorrow! Please attach the overdue fines to the book with tape as we bring them down early in the morning in our book bin.
Mrs. Janos(Social Worker) stopped in yesterday to talk with us about treating others kindly and sticking up for those who are being picked on. This fit right in with Fr. Phil's homily today about speaking kindly to others and not saying words that would hurt anyone.
Second Grade is hosting the Stations of the Cross this Friday at 2:15. Thanks to Matt, Joey, Michael, Andre,Emmett and Ciaran for volunteering to lead us in prayer. All are invited to attend.

Our homework for tonight is:
Reading--Do the vocab. sheet and read Zipping, Zapping, Zooming Bats. Do not forget to get the sheet signed upon completion.
Math-Many finished the Math paper we started in school after Art Moms came in. Those who did not, have to complete it at home. (This is when knowing the facts in a "flash" comes in handy!)
Flashcards!
Religion-Study for the Religion Test on Ch. 10. We did a lot of studying here at school so this should be a snap, if you were paying attention!! Just be sure to review the story of the farmer who sows the seeds and be able to tell me one thing you learned from the story.(Relate it to our daily lives)
Communion Book-Nothing to do tonight except many wanted to get started on the project that is due. We take it back and forth daily just be sure to return it.
FYI: Many thanks to Mrs. Panico and Mrs. Conte who came in and talked about Gustav Klimt. We really enjoyed making our AB pattern drawing and crayon resist painting! They look fantastic!!! Best Ever!!!! Thanks for the mini cupcakes too! We gobbled those down in no time flat!

Our homework for tonight is:
Math-Flashcards!! Results will be sent home tomorrow! Finish p.211 if not done already!
Spelling- You may want to jump start your sentences. This week's focus is going to be on Irregular Past-Tense Verbs, such as came, ran, gave sang, etc. You may also want to go onto spellingcity.com to review some of this week's spelling words.
Religion-Today we started our Communion Books!!! I talked about the first project that will be due on March 10.I also mentioned that in lieu of an actual bulletin board they may use a poster board. Just be sure to have the letter/notes glued or taped on well enough so they do not fall off! Remember to take a peek, as we did in school, as to what other projects are coming up so that you can purchase all supplies needed with a "one-stop shop" like I mentioned at the Communion meeting.
Look over Ch. 10 for a test on Wednesday. We ran out of time to finish the review today because of all the questions about the new Communion Book!We will complete the review pages together at school tomorrow. I just like to give you two nights to study in case one doesn't work for you!
FYI:If anyone has a Dr. Suess book at home that they would like to bring in to share with others during SSR time, bring it in!(Be sure your name is on it though!) We saw a movie about one or two of Dr. Seuss' books today because we finally filled our Marble Jar of Compliments and Good Behavior.Whew! That took a long time but we are learning daily that it pays to be polite!!!
We also had juice and pretzels because we spelled out SURPRISE. It was a double-whammy day!!! Now you know why we ran out of time!!!
Congrats to the group who did a very good job on choral reading the poem "Questions About Bats". They even had Michael reading his part hanging upside down from a chair like a bat!!! Way to be creative!!!
It should be known that we are very compassionate in here-we have been praying for the people in Haiti right along but now have to add those in Chile to our prayers!
A reminder that they will be selling those suckers again tomorrow for 50 cents. So...if you missed out the first time, here is your chance!!!! All proceeds are going to Haiti!!!

Our homework for tonight is:
Math-flashcards!!! I will be looking at the timed tests tonight!
Finish the math page we started in school.
Reading--AR?? Seven points this quarter. Some really need to get to the library and take out books.
FYI: We had a volunteer, Mrs. Mitchell, from Orchestra Hall come to talk with us about the different instruments we will see tomorrow. She also told us how the music has "steps" and let us climb up and down with our hands accordingly. We got a chance to play along loudly and softly on different instruments. She was impressed with how many played real instruments in this room. She also complimented us on how well we behaved while she was here. Another marble in the jar!!!!
Today we made a Venn diagram, stating likenesses and differences between Washington and Lincoln. Interesting to see the different homes they lived in!
We also read another great book called The Story of Ruby Bridges. See who can retell her story. What a brave little girl!!! Thank goodness, that doesn't happen anymore!

Our homework for tonight is:
Math-flashcards! factmonster.com is another great website to practice your facts on after you say the fact family!
Science-Answer the three questions at the end of the lesson we did in school, p.C11. Answer them in the way we have learned, using words from the question to formulate your answer. This should be done on loose leaf and use the white construction paper to reproduce the Water Cycle seen on C8-C9.Use the paper the widest way and don't forget to label it using our vocabulary words.
FYI: Today after Mass, Fr. Steve was nice enough to talk to us about the Liturgy of the Word parts of the Mass. He was very kind in answering everyone's questions, which sometimes led us off the track of Liturgy of the Word but interesting questions none the less!!! We saw the special book that holds only the Gospels in it. Now we know what is in that book they hold up over their heads coming into Church! This will definitely help us in our next Religion test. How many readings are there in the Sunday Liturgy of the Word??? Which one is the most important? Let's see who was paying close attention.

Our homework tonight is:
Math--finish the page(203-04) we started at school. We have gone over the front in school in many different ways. Using the tens sticks and ones to add, using the straight adding problem "Carrying" the one ten stick into the tens column and also the expanded form. Many seem to get it but some are still unsure!!! You'll see tonight!!!
Flashcards as well! This is when knowing the facts is really coming in handy! Those who know the facts get their adding pages done quickly while those who are still looking at fingers and number line are slow in getting the work completed.
FYI: Congrats to Mrs. Steffen who had a baby girl today! Everyone has been praying for her all along so I thought you might want to know!
Tomorrow is Mass. No out-of-uniform passes please!
Friday is our Field Trip! Remember to bring a lunch and drink to school as well as a snack for the afternoon. We will be eating in the room BEFORE we leave and snacking upon arriving home. Everyone should wear their uniform.
Many children are coming to school without having the necessary supplies. Many need glue sticks. They go so quickly! Please ask your child if they are borrowing from others or me and then purchase the supplies needed. Many are missing highlight pens which are used to indicate what will be on the upcoming Religion tests. Thanks in advance.
The case of the missing boots has been solved!!!!
