Thoughts from 32!
Our homework for tonight is:
Math-flashcards! Also, study the Rocket Math sheet that went home today. We are starting to see some improvement more quickly!
Reading/Spelling-Backpack p.114 and Study for the test!
Handwriting- finish the pages we started in school. All pages should be done up to Uppercase U.
FYI:Tomorrow is out of uniform!!! Dress cool. But do know that our room is quite comfortable! We have the best air-conditioner in the school!!!
Use this light night of homework to accrue some AR points!
Have fun before it rains!!!

Reading/Spelling-Backpack p.113. Read at minimum, 3 times to increase fluency.
FYI:Study those Rocket Math sheets that went home today. Especially if there is a check on it. That means the established goal was not met.

Math-Flashcards!!!
Reading/Spelling-Backpack p. 112 and reading sheet #31. Some did get a "jump start" on it after the May Crowning. Book Talk Journal up to p.4 should be completed today. "Lots of lines means lots of words!!!"
FYI: Today is Snappy Hot Dog Day! They are giving us 15% of the profits!!! Let's eat out tonight! We had a beautiful May Crowning in Church this afternoon. We even knew how to sing along! AR points up to this point were sent home today.
Read early, read often! Also, those 8 people who participated in the Six Flags Reading Minutes received their free tickets today. Look for them. Have a great night. Mrs. Jimenez's father died and we are all heading over to the wake at Cooney's on Busse. Say a prayer for Mr. Schmitz.

FYI: Our treat treasures are all gone! Anyone who would like to contribute is welcome!!!! Tomorrow is the 8th grade May Crowning over in Church at 2:00. We have been taking turns crowning Mary in here. Only 14 more to go until everyone has a chance! Thanks to Mrs. Groh who came in today for our last Art Mom session of the year. We had fun designing our own masks! Thanks again, Mrs. Groh, and also thanks to all the other Art Moms who have made this year a success!(Mrs. Ronan,Mrs. McNamara,and Mrs. Bruno) We would not have such exposure to these great artists without your help. Enjoy the nice weather!

Our homework for tonight is:
Math-Testing starts on Monday on Time! Please go over the vocab. words and the placement of drawn hands on the clock. Be sure to know when to put the hands half way between two numbers. Hang onto the Review pages I sent home. They have all the needed vocabulary words. As always, FLASHCARDS!!!
Handwriting-Finish R and B and the review page that follows! All pages should be filled in up to this point. Quite a few forgot to fill in all parts last night!
Reading/Spelling-Backpack p.110. Study for the test!
FYI: Hot Lunch is tomorrow! We are also coming out of uniform! Please sign and return the Religion Test even though it was not stamped with the stamp. My helpers were so anxious to pass them out that I forgot to stamp them first!!We were so busy today finishing up all our Mother's Day surprises. I hope you like them! They were made with love! Have a wonderful Mother's Day! Enjoy your children! They should be treating you like royalty!!!!

Reading/Spelling-Backpack p.109.
Math- Homework p.629-30. AM and PM is a hard concept for second graders! It is hard to grasp that some of the AM hours can be dark! and that some of the PM hours can be light! Flashcards!
Handwriting-Finish the two pages we started in school. Also do the review pages- p.47 and p.50.
FYI: We have decided to come out of uniform tomorrow AND Friday! We have six out of uniform passes that must be used up! Thursday we have Gym and Friday is our Mothers' Club Hot Lunch day, so being out-of-uniform works great for both days! Thanks to the five people who emailed their blestarewe.com test results!

Reading/Spelling-Read the Backpack p.108 several times to build up fluency.
Religion-Study for the Ch. 11 test on the Works of Mercy. Be prepared to write about a way you can practice one of the Works of Mercy. Know what Martin de Porres and Mother Cabrini were remembered for. Check out blestarewe.com for a sneak preview of the test! FYI:Thanks to Nikki who brought in some Tootsie Pops for our treasure chest. We are running low on the" eating" prizes! We have been busy working on some Mothers' Day surprises!

Religion-Study for the test! If you want you can bring in a can of soup for your Work of Mercy this week!

FYI:Communion DVD and pictures went home today, if you ordered one! Please sign and return the Math Check My Progress test. Everyone did so well on this test! Not so sure of tonights homework though! Quarter to and quarter past and half past! You may want to go onto IXL.com and do some extra work on this.

Reading/Spelling-Study for the test! Spellingcity.com is a fun way to review! Complete the sheet about Niagra Falls at home. You can google it or go on encyclopedia.com for the info you need.
FYI: Thanks to Jackson and Maura who read a few thoughts about Fr. Steve at Mass today. Anna was great to represent our room by going forward to bless Fr. Steve.
Congrats to Cate McNamara who was chosen to crown Mary on Sunday!!! Letters coming home tomorrow.

Our homework for tonight is:
Math-flashcards! Study those Rocket Math ones as well. See if you can answer as many as your goal and then some! Do the Math homework p.603-4. Be careful when drawing the hour hand--it is shorter than the minute hand.
Reading/Spelling-Backpack p. 104. Read it quite a few times to encourage fluency! Start studying for the test which will be on Thursday!
Handwriting-some did not finish the O page we started in school. Please finish at home and pay attention to the lines. Don't go above the head line or below the base line!
FYI:What a busy day we had! We were preparing Pastor Appreciation Day cards for Fr. Steve!(May 1) We worked on Retirement cards for Ms. Werner. We also did our last Peace Building Project which was a pair of big glasses on which we drew what we saw in our futures. Very interesting!
Thanks to Maura and Jackson who will be telling Fr. Steve what they appreciate about him at our Mass tomorrow. They are representing the whole second grade class. Thanks for doing that for us! Be sure to talk "slow and steady!" and adjust the microphone to your own personal height!!! Anna is representing our class by going forward to extend her hands over Fr. Steve! Thanks to you too Anna!

Reading/Spelling-Backpack p.103. Friday we are off of school so the test will be Thursday.
FYI:Congratulations to everyone who made their First Holy Communion on Saturday and the parents who helped to guide them along the way. They all did an excellent job! Hope you had a great celebration afterwards!
Wednesday is our Building Peace T-shirt day, so....just in case you need to find it!

Math-flashcards! Also you can use the Rocket Math sheets to try to advance your rocket! Math test tomorrow on all the different graphs we have been learning about. Be certain about the line plot!
Reading/Spelling-baclpack p.102 and study for the test! spellingcity.com is fun!
FYI: We are having our last practice tomorrow. Please come out of uniform in comfortable clothing. We will be in church for quite a while!
Be sure to be in this classroom at 10:30 on Saturday! We start picture taking right away and you don't want to miss being in the class picture! Plan accordingly!!! Pray for great weather. So far, the weather is supposed to be great but you know that can change in a blink here in Chicago!
Thanks for all your help at home preparing your child for Communion. I am confident that all are ready!

Our homework for tonight is:
Math-Homework p.577-58 and flashcards! Please use the Rocket Math sheet also to try to advance onto the next letter. Some are staying on the same sheet for 6 tries!This is our year to learn all the facts! Next year will be the mulitiplication facts.
Religion-Study 7&8 for a test tomorrow.Know the vocab. words:host,Lord's Prayer,Amen, and chalice.Know the proper order for receiving Communion. Be familiar with the story of the strangers meeting Jesus on the road.
Reading/Spelling-Backpack p.100.
FYI:Mobiles and Banners due tomorrow! Thanks to those who sent them in early. It takes a while to present them to the class.
We are having a fun week. On Thursday, wear your Peace Building T-shirt(no jog or pajama pants!) We are having carnival-like games to play in the gym. Our upper grade students made games for the younger ones to play! I can't wait.
On Friday, we are also coming out of uniform! We will be having our last practice before the big day!(No jog or pajama pants!)
Thanks to Mrs. Poznar and Mr. Gallagher who volunteered to hang up our Banners and essays!

FYI:Mobiles and Banners due this Wednesday. Thanks to those who sent them in ironed and on hangers! They are all so beautiful!No one has contacted me about being able to hang the banners up on Friday.
