English - Do p.53 odds - follow the directions.Also, study your notes.
Spelling - 7 good sentences using 7 spelling words.
Math - Study your notes.
Any other homework is work not finished in school or missing assignments.

Just a word about homework. If your child is doing an enormous amount of work at night, it probably means he/she is having difficulty getting into the swing of things. We do move a little quicker in third grade, so it may take a while for your child to adjust. Stick with it!

Spelling - Sound spelling
Writing - Finish your more specific idea on your worksheet for ideas.
Reading - Only a few have to finish your vocabulary worksheet.
Math - Again, only a few have to finish p.5. Also, study your notes on standard form, word form, expanded form, and picture form. We will be studying this for the rest of the week.

Can you believe the heat today? We are one of the luckiest classes here at St.Juliana school with our air conditioner that works so well. We are feeling sorry for our fellow students that do not have air and are suffering during this hot spell. Keep them in mind when you win the lottery. Wouldn't that be awesome?

Spelling - ABC order(on the notebook paper).
Science - Observation - due Wednesday.
Bring in any forms that are due back, and don't forget we need to pay $4.00 for our assignment notebooks.

Well, we got through our first full day of school. Wow, what an accomplishment! We have been going over the rules and set ups for third grade. I know everyone is tired by the end of the day, so that says we have been working hard. Luckily, we celebrated a birthday today, and had a little break. Get some rest for tomorrow and next week.

Reading - Finish your ABC order paper.
English - Finish your writing from this morning and draw your picture if you did not finish in school.
Gym - Bring in your gym shoes tomorrow. We got switched from today.
Bring in any forms and money that need to go to the office.

Oops! I forgot to tell everyone we have gym tomorrow. If you need to keep your shoes in school, please bring a bag to hang in the coatroom. Thanks!

It was nice to see all of the smiling faces this morning for our first day back. The morning flew by with lots of notes and forms for moms and dads to fill out. Please send the necessary forms back when possible. Also, we were issued our assignment notebooks today. Each student needs to send $4.00 to school in an envelope with their name for these notebooks. We also talked about covers for our books. You are welcome to use stretchy covers as long as they are large enough not to put pressure on the bindings. Many of the jumbo ones fit fine. If you would rather your child use the paper ones from school, just have them let me know.
Tomorrow we will have lunch in school so don't forget to send one along. I ordered milk if your child indicated it for tomorrow and Friday. Remember to send the milk fee as soon as you decide whether or not they will have milk at school.
It was really nice meeting everyone this morning and seeing some familiar faces. Can't wait for us to get started.
