It was great seeing everyone yesterday at Open House.

Wednesday is our 100 days of school celebration. We have fun activities planned for that day.
Thursday is Student Appreciate Day! Students may come out of uniform. They will receive a special treat from Dairy Queen along with watching the talent show in the afternoon.

In reading we learned about contractions today. The spelling contract and word list are in the green folder. The test will be next Thursday, Feb 2. They only need to spell the words in pink.
Homework: Math page 255-56.
Dismissal at 2:00 tomorrow.
This Sunday is our Expo/Open House.(Mass at noon- Open House from 1-3) All are welcome to visit the school and our classroom. Don't forget to come in complete uniform to receive an out-of-uniform pass to be used on Monday.

The children went to the computer lab and wrote an interesting fact and drew a penguin for our class book. We are learning about Polar Bears in Science next. Ask your child what they know about penguins?

Homework: Complete math workbook pages 233 & 234. We have practiced doing this in school. The children need to cross out any information in the word problems that is not needed to solve the problem.

Mothers Club Hot Lunch tomorrow.
We are "camping" tomorrow. The children can come out of uniform and may bring a sleeping bag or blanket along with a stuffed animal and flash light.
Book orders are due tomorrow
Please continue to work with your child on their spelling words. The test will be on Thursday. The assessment test will be on Friday. We will also be "camping" on Friday-to follow our camping theme in this unit. The children may come out of uniform and bring a sleeping bag or blanket and a stuffed animal to school.
Please continue to practice the Dolch words-"Giraffe Book"(this was given to you at conferences).

We are also getting ready for hundred's day. In the folder yesterday was a note about our class goal of reading 100 books by the first week of February. The letter explains this goal and provides a sheet for you to record the book your child reads. Please cut the slip from the paper every time your child reads a book and sign it. When your child brings the slip to school, he/she will put their name on a star and hang in the hall. I expect each child to read at least 5 books by the beginning of February. They may read any book that is comfortable for them. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Monday, January 9. 2012, we will be taking pictures for our yearbook of our many and various groups, teams and clubs. Students are to come in our official school uniforms, no spirit or sports wear. Scouts and teams may bring their shirts to put over their uniforms for pictures. Band students, please bring your band instruments for the pictures.
