Homework: Go on Superkids and read the interactive books for unit 5. Please sign and return the unit reading test. I still have a lot missing.
Book It is due tomorrow for the month of November. Your child will receive a Pizza Hut certificate.
Reminder: Book orders are due on Friday. They make great gifts and every book you order on line the classroom receives a free book!

Today we focused on Advent in our Religion class. We are reading a special Advent book about a bear and his journey to Bethlehem--We will say a special Advent prayer each day. The children brought home their Advent chain today. Please take off one chain each day to count the days until Christmas.
Computers-We started IXL math today. All the children logged in and started on first grade math. A letter will be coming home this week with the log-in information, so that you can use it at home.
Reading-We are starting Unit 5 today. The spelling words and contract came home today. Test next Monday.
Math-We are working on place value.
Social Studies-We started our Christmas Around the World unit. Ask your child where we traveled today. They each made a suitcase, received an airline ticket and a special scrapbook for our travels.
Book Orders for December are in the green folder. They are due Friday, December 2nd.
Reminders: The Fun Pac photos need to be returned if you are not purchasing them. They are $10. The PJ drive ends on Friday.

Noble Book Fair to benefit the school library and the classrooms.

Just a reminder-We are celebrating Grandparents' Day is this Monday. Please come hear our class recite a Superkids Poem and sing a Thanksgiving song in the gym at 9:25. Visit our room to see all the wonderful projects we made to celebrate Thanksgiving! We will go to Mass at 10:45. Dismissal will be from our regular dismissal door at 12.
Parent-Teacher conferences will be on Monday and Tuesday next week. We will dismiss at 12 on both days.

There are untold numbers of children throughout our country that have never known the comfort of being tucked into bed in new pajamas with a bedtime story.
We, at St. Juliana School, have joined together with
Classroom Cares and Scholastic Books to make a difference.
This Friday, November 18th, is our all-school KICK-OFF to launch our Advent Outreach Program … the Pajama Project! As such, the students will be allowed to wear
pajama/sweat pants with a t-shirt/sweatshirt, and shoes (no slippers). Please note our uniform policy in that all apparel must be appropriate.

Reading:We will read a story called "In a Pickle" this week. New spelling words will come home tomorrow, the test will be next week Tuesday, November 22nd.
Math:Homework math page. Chapter test on Wednesday. A review sheet will come home to help your child study tomorrow.
Important notes are in the green folder-please empty out the folder tonight. We are having a Superkids Reading Meeting this Thursday night from 6:30-7:30 in the school hall. Please join us for a special presentation on what every parent needs to know about early reading instruction.
The children are out-of-uniform this Friday. Please wear PJ pants. We are kicking off our Advent project-collecting PJ's. A note about this is in the green folder.

Homework: Please have your child practice the story "Fiddlesticks" in their reader for homework tonight.
Book orders are due tomorrow. The holidays are fast approaching and books make great stocking stuffers. If you ordered books online just let me know if they are a gift and I will give you the books without your child seeing them. Plus every time you order online I get a free book for the classroom.
Please sign and return your child's math test.
Social Studies-We are starting a unit on Pilgrims & Indians. We will be reading books and doing special projects this month.
We are starting the Book It Reading Program. The November calendar and parent letter went home yesterday. Our goal is to read 20 minutes for 20 days. Please color the turkey in when you read. They may be returned on December 1st. I will then staple a certificate for a free personal pan pizza to the form.
Yesterday,we read a book about a turkey in disguise; ask your child what the farmer ended up eating for Thanksgiving dinner!. The children are bringing home a turkey that you need to disguise! Please cut out the tagboard turkey and put him in disguise. Glue construction paper,fabric, yarn, or anything else that will hide your turkey. Please return the turkey by next Tuesday. Be creative!
Reading: We started unit 3 today in our reading workbooks. You may go on the parent portal for unit 3 and do the interactive books with your child.
The reading assessment for units 1 & 2 our in your child's green folder today. Please sign and return it tomorrow. Thank you!
Spelling: You will find your child's new memory and pattern words for their spelling test. Please work with your child on the words and return the contract on the day of the spelling test which is Friday, November 11th.
Math: Please sign and return your child's Cumulative Review Test.
