We went to the computer lab yesterday. Here is some information regarding our computer curriculum:
The students in First Grade are beginning the school year in the computer lab by working on the Dance Mat Typing website. It is a free typing program by the BBC. They work independently by plugging in their headphones and listening to the directions. The ABCya First Grade website has games and activities that include: alphabetical order, upper-case and lower-case letters, counting numbers, connect the dots, numerical order, shapes, addition, e-storybooks and holiday games. The students will be working on IXL Math and online components for the Rowland Reading Program.
Today we attended a Peace Assembly in the gym to honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2011. Connor Bielfeldt did a great job representing 1st grade and he said the Pledge of Allegiance.
Homework today is reread the story, "At The Pond."
Every day (with the exception of weather or funerals) our students are able to have recess outdoors. Their is adult supervision which consists of three parent supervisors as well as one of the K-1 teachers. The supervisors make sure that the students are not playing in the alley, between cars or near the dumpsters. We also watch for students who are in distress and also encourage group play.
