Homework: Begin to read the stories for Unit 7 on the Superkids website, and continue to practice math flashcards.

The new spelling list is in the folder. The test is on May 9th. The children will be tested on all 10 words listed on the sheet.

Reminder: We will be going our field trip tomorrow. Everyone needs to be in uniform. We will eat lunch in our classrooms when we return. Remember- no one ordered hot lunch as it was blocked off for first grade due to the field trip. Everyone needs to bring a lunch to school!

Religion-We are reading the Bible story-Joseph's Amazing Coat and working on some activities to help us understand the play.

Language Arts-We are finishing Unit 6. We will have an assessment test this week. Spelling test tomorrow!

Math-We are continuing to work on strategies to help us subtract larger numbers.

Science-We will finish up our plant unit
this week.

Social Studies-This week we are beginning to learn about symbols of the USA.

We went to the computer lab and worked on IXL today.

We can still accept items for the Blacktop Ball gardening basket. Some suggestions are:
Miracle grow
sun block/bug repellent
garden statues
Leaf scoops (Ace on Northwest Hwy - @ $7.00)
kids gardening gloves, etc.
Or you might have an even better idea too! Thanks for everything we have already gotten in! I believe that all items need to be in by Friday.

Today we put all the names of the volunteers to be chaperone for the field trip in a big bowl, and the helper of the week chose one name. If you did not receive a note in your child's folder today, your name was not picked. Thanks to everyone who offered...I wish all of you could go with us!

Homework: Have your child read the current story in their reader to you tonight. Also, please continue to work on the math subtraction flashcards, spelling words and giraffe lists. The spelling test is next Tuesday, April 24th. All remaining giraffe lists (Dolch Words) should be completed as soon as possible.

Please sign the Math tests, and return to school tomorrow. Also, please remember to return your signed report card.

Currently we are working on a planting unit in Science, in conjunction with our Earth Day studies. The children had a lot of fun planting today.

Tomorrow is the absolute last day to turn in the March Book-It forms.

Wednesday is the last day to turn in any field trip slips and payments. After that day, we will choose a chaperone from the many that said they could come. Thank you for volunteering.
