Homework: Don't forget to study for the Spelling test tomorrow! Also, flashcards need to be done every day Monday through Thursday night. We check them off daily, and it does count as a homework grade.
Please have your child practice recognizing/identifying the coins: penny, nickel, dime and quarter. They should be able to tell you how much the coin is worth. We are working on adding simple sets of coins together, always starting with the coin that is worth the most.
Tomorrow is Mass - no out-of-uniform passes.
Have a great night!
Please return the signed Math Chapter tests to school.
Homework: Create a new Dr. Seuss character worksheet, due Friday. Directions are on the page.
The State of Illinois Hearing and Vision Screening memos and the Dental Examination forms are being sent home today with each student. Please look for them, read the information and note the due date.
Also, look for information about the Easter baskets each classroom will be making for the needy. Our classroom will be collecting things to fill a basket for a girl. We will also accept donations of a few baskets for this project, if anyone has extras.
Thank you, and have a good night!

Homework: Read the story titled "The Wish" in the reader tonight.
Please remember that the children are to do their math flashcards daily from Monday to Thursday, and get their form signed each night. (This will be counted towards their math grade.)
Out-of-uniform tomorrow due to pop-tops!
Hope everyone had a nice long weekend!
Don't forget: The Read to Succeed forms for the Great America ticket are due by tomorrow.
Homework: Please have your child complete the Chapter Review for tomorrow's math test. There is no need to return it.
Have a good night!
The addition and subtraction flashcards are in the green folder tonight. There is also a parent signature sheet taped to the inside of the green folder. The children need to memorize the math facts to 10. We will begin with the addition facts to 10. Each day practice the cards with your child. You be the judge as to how many to practice each night. Once they know the zero facts move to the ones, etc. Then mix the ones with the twos and threes, etc. We will begin testing them in March on the addition facts. Please practice them every night for homework and sign the sheet in the green folder. I will check the folder every morning Tuesday through Friday.
Have a great long weekend!
Homework: Please have your child complete the math worksheet that is in their folder.
Thank you!
Happy Valentine's Day!!
Please note: Room 8 will not be attending mass tomorrow. We have a special visitor coming to our classroom from the SUPERKIDS Program.
Have a great night!
Tomorrow we will have Art Mom. The kids are looking forward to it very much!
Don't forget - book reports are due tomorrow if your child has not yet turned it in.
Tomorrow is Mothers Club Hot Lunch.
Please send in your supplies for the Valentine's Day party by tomorrow, if possible. Remember, not everyone had a requested supply to bring this time. I did want to clarify one thing on the "Party Letter"...Bringing treats for the class is optional, but all children should bring valentine's cards for their classmates. Do not address them, but have your child sign them all.
Thank you!
Homework: Book report is due this Friday. They chose a book to read and they have a "bubblegum machine" book report to fill out about the book. Please bring the book and the report back by Friday at the latest.
We are missing many of the requested supplies for the "egg-speriment" we are starting tomorrow. If your child brought home a note to bring in either eggs, a can of coke, or toothpaste...Please send it in tomorrow so that we may begin the experiment on time. Thank you!
Have a great day!
We had a very nice Catholic Schools Week! The children really enjoyed the student appreciation day complete with a talent show in the gym and a dairy Queen treat donated from Fine Arts. Hope everyone enjoyed their day off.
We also celebrated the 100th day of school on Wednesday. Can you believe we are more than half way done with First Grade?
February is Dental Health Month. If you received a request note for a special supply for our "tooth" experiment, please send it in tomorrow. (Not everyone received one this time.)
Later this week, we will be starting the second book in our SUPERKIDS reading series. Look for it to come home soon!
I will still accept any January Book-it calendars for the reading program until Tuesday. Please have your child bring the form to school to receive their free pizza certificate. Remember, they are supposed to be reading at least 20 days a month.
Looking forward to a great week!
