Language Arts - Today we started Unit 8. We are learning about the /ou/ and the /ow/ sounds.

Science - Today we started making our own booklet about the planets. We learned some interesting facts about Mercury. Ask your child what they learned about this planet.

Reminders: The children must be in uniform tomorrow for the May Crowning and on Wednesday for Mass. Please feel free to join us for the school May Crowning at 2:00 tomorrow.

Forgot to mention earlier that tomorrow is our spelling test! Don't forget to study and bring in the spelling contracts!

Please look for a very important note that came home in your child's backpack today. Tomorrow, the school children will be participating in making a video for the 85th Anniversary Gala about the electronic smart boards that are in classrooms and the computer lab. Read the information, and sign the release if you will allow your child to be a part of this production. No child will be allowed to participate if a form is not turned in. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Religion - We are learning about Mary and the rosary this week.

Language Arts - We will continue to learn about the 'tricky r" sounds - ar, or and ear. The spelling test will be on Friday.

Math - We will begin our next chapter about measurement this week.

Science - We started our Space unit today. We started learning about stars - ask your child what a constellation is.  In your child's backpack is the star maker that we made in class. See if you can use a flashlight to figure out what shape the constellation is!

Homework: Please read the article in our reader called "Making Stars".  Please sign the reading and math tests, and return to school tomorrow.

Reminders: Please return all field trip slips/money. They were due today. I will randomly pick a name to help chaperone for the field trip this week. The person that is picked will be notified.

Art mom is tomorrow. They have done such a wonderful job this year! The children love when they come to school to teach them about an artist.

Mothers' Club Hot Lunch on Friday is McDonalds.

The Mass was beautiful today! The first grade readers and gift bearers did a good job!

A new spelling list went home today. The test will be on May 10th. There are no memory words, only "trickers" so ALL of the words will be on the test.

Math - Please study for the Chapter test tomorrow using the Chapter Review that was sent home yesterday.

Thank you to everyone who so generously gave to Ms. Henehan's present with your donations of teacher /office supplies, books, etc. I was able to fill a large three drawer storage cart that she can then use in a new classroom. She was VERY surprised! We will miss her very much! Thanks again.
