Greetings! Happy Spring! The warm weather is finally creeping in, and we're really glad to spend some time outdoors again. If you have a bouncy ball or some chalk to spare, we could use it for recess.
We've been reading Holes in room 23 and really enjoying it. We're also planning for Junior Achievement day on Thursday morning. The students do learn a lot about business and the world around them through these volunteers.
Homework:
Math 5th: p. 303, 9-27 all
Math 6th: Group 2 p. 335 4-12 all
Spelling: Unit 20, first two pages
Reading: Read Chapters 19-20 in Holes, Quiz on Friday
Please make sure your child has an ample supply of paper, erasable pens, etc. to get him/her through the rest of the year. Students are beginning to come with nothing, and the school year isn't quite over yet.
Please remember to bring in a magazine or newspaper or game to recycle so our class can reach 100% participation in the recycling program. To date, only two students have brought anything in.
Happy belated birthday to Emily Toomey (15th) and Luke Turlan (16th)!

Think Spring!
We've taken down all evidence of snowflakes, snowmen, and sleds and are concentrating on St. Patrick rainbows and Spring! Seems like we've had snow and cold since we began "dreaming" of the white stuff. Hopefully, we can push this weather out and welcome some warmer days soon.
Homework for February 25th:
Math 5: Reteach 10-1 sheet
Math 6: p. 252, 11-35 odds
You should be receiving the invitations today to the Volunteer Dinner on March 6th. Please try to attend; your time and your help are invaluable to us, and we would just like to show our appreciation.
Also, we'll be collecting money soon for our next novel, Freedom Train. Some of you may have this at home or may wish to purchase it elsewhere. I'll let you know the details this week.
This Thursday is Decades Day, sponsored by Student Council. Students may dress in their favorite decade-style clothing.
Good luck to the fifth graders taking Terra Novas next week.
Happy Birthday Shannon!
