Moving right along!!!

We have introduced our new letter friend, Mr. M. He brought 3 new words: I, Like and To. Please practice these at home. Please also practice writing the letter M (capital and small).



In math, we will be working on position words, ie. above, below and middle. We will also be practicing writing the number 1-10.



Gym class will be held on Wednesdays. The students wear their gym shoes to school and leave them on all day.



If you are bringing a snack for the class, please bring a "NUT FREE" snack. Thank you.

Welcome to Kindergarten!!

We are having a wonderful start to the new school year!!! We look forward to meeting everyone on Thursday evening. The evening begins in the Gym at 7:00pm.

Inching our way to first grade!!!

Tomorrow, Friday, May 28th is a classroom t-shirt day. This is an out-of-uniform day.



This is a gently reminder that we still have 5 days of snack time. Please make sure that you pack something for the afternoon.



On Wednesday, June 2nd, we will have game day. The students may bring in their favorite game to share with the class. Please make sure your child brings a game that he/she knows how to play. More information will follow with a note on Tuesday.



On Thursday, June 3rd, we will have Beach Day. The students may come to school in shorts, tropical shirts and sandals. They are welcome to bring a beach towel, to lounge around and read books to the Letter People.



Our last day, Monday, June 7th, will be our class picnic at Brooks Park. Please have the students wear their classroom t-shirts.

The end is coming near!!

Thank you for making our Parents Day a huge success!!! We loved seeing everyone.



How exciting that we will be meeting our last letter friend next week. Mr. X will be making an appearance. At this point in the school year, the students should know all of the everyday words. This will help them succeed in first grade.



The money for the Kindergarten DVD ($7.00) will be due on Friday, May 21st. The students will receive the DVD by the end of the school year.

Also, we will have an out-of-uniform day on Friday, May 21st. Please have your students wear their classroom shirts. Thank you to the parents that have taken items home to clean, we really appreciate it!

The end is quickly coming!!!

We will be finishing the letter Y next week. Quite a surprise for next week, Mr. Q will be making an appearance. How quickly we have finished our everyday words. Mr. Q will bring our last word; no.



We are winding down the last couple of weeks of kindergarten. Here are some suggestions to work on over the summer:



Join the summer reading program at the Chicago Public Library. A great suggestions are the Easy Readers for your child to read to you.

Keep up the flashcards of the everyday words.

Have your child start to sound out words and try to spell them.

Practice writing letters/numbers correctly.

Practice simple addition problems.





The summer months are long and we want the students to be prepared for first grade.



Please let us know if you can help us with the end of the year cleaning.



Our last day of school is June 7th. Please read the green note with the details regarding the picnic.



We would like to take an end of the year picture class. Please have your child wear their class shirts on Monday, May 17th. They may wear the shirts with jeans and gym shoes.



If your child has a summer birthday, please set up a date with the teacher so your child can celebrate their big day before school gets out.



Friday, May 21st is the last Mothers' Club Hot Lunch. Pizza will be served.

Yikes!! It is almost the end of the year!!

We will keep working on Ms. K. Yet, we will move on to Ms. Y next week.

Ms. Y will bring the new word, no. This is the last of our new words for the rest of the year. Yeah!!!!



On Friday, May 14th, we will be attending May Crowning with the rest of the school. Please do not use an out-of-uniform pass on this day.



With the end of the year approaching us, if you would be willing to help clean our toys at home please let us know. If you prefer to come in the classroom for a couple of hours to help clean, we would greatly appreciate it!!



Our final day will be on June 7th. We will celebrate at Brooks Park with a picnic for the entire family!! We will be meeting at the park 9:00 – 11:00 and the students will be dismissed from the park. More information will follow.



We would like to thank Mrs. Hazzard for putting together the Kindergarten DVD. We will sell a copy of the DVD for $7.00. If you are interested in a copy, please send in $7.00 in an envelope marked DVD and your name. Copies will be passed out in a couple of weeks.

Kicking into a new week!!!

Next week we will welcome Ms. K to our classrooms. She is bringing 2 new words, "this and that". Please review all of the everyday words, everyday!!

Our Parent Mass is coming soon!! It is next Friday, May 7th at 9:00am in the Church. If you child has a reading part in the Mass, please practice this everyday.

We will be out of uniform and wearing our class shirts on Thursday, May 6th.

Coming to another fun week!!!

To help finish off Ms. J we will end with a jeans day. The students may wear jeans tomorrow, Friday, April 23rd.

During lunch time tomorrow some of the older students will be selling candy for Misericordia. Students will receive candy with any donation.



Mr. C will be making a visit next week. He is bringing the word, said. Please add this to your everyday words and continue to practice them.



Some of the children will be reading at the Parents' Mass on May 7th. We will be sending home their parts next week, please practice them.



Just a reminder no school on Friday, April 30th.

Jumping into a new week!!

We welcoming Ms. J to our class. We are joyfully excited!!!



We are really working on having the students correct their own writing habits. Please make sure that the students are writing correctly on the line and letters/numbers are not backwards.



Report cards are going home today. Please sign the report card and return it with the envelope.



On Thursday, April 22nd, we will celebrate Earth Day. The students may come out of uniform and wear earth colors. (ie. blue, green or T- shirts with a tree or flowers on it)



The kindergarten parent Mass will be held on Friday, May 7th at 9:00am. This Mass is designed for the kindergartener and their parents. To make the day special for the student, please make arrangements for younger siblings. We will then have refreshments after the Mass and the students will be dismissed with their parents.



The kindergarteners last day of school will be on June 7th. We will be hosting a picnic that we encourage the family to attend. More information to follow.

Eager to get back to work!!

We are welcoming Ms. E this week. Even though see has no new words, she encourages us to practice our old ones.



On Friday, April 16th, we will have an out of uniform pass. The students should wear their classroom shirts and they may wear jeans and gym shoes. Friday is also a Mothers' Club Hot Lunch.
