"Apple-licious Week!"

Ms. A is having an awesome time visiting with us! So far, a few of the activities we enjoyed were charting a list of "A" words, estimating with apples, and sharing "A" stories. The children made beautiful apples that are displayed on our classroom windows. Each child chose their favorite kind of apple to make (red, yellow, or green.) Ask your child which one he/she made.
We had a lot of fun in Gym this morning! We "flew" around the Gym like Airplanes today! (That's Ms. A's favorite way to travel.) We also played a quick game of Duck, Duck, Goose. Not everyone had a turn this time, but they were all great sports!
Reading Logs
Please continue to read to your child daily and return the September reading log by Friday, September 30th Thank you! :)
Please work with your child on his/her cutting skills at home. For extra practice, your child can cut coupons, comics, or pictures out of newspapers or magazines.
Reminder: Please help your child dress in green this Friday, September 30th.

Green Week

Today we met a new Letter Person! Ms. A came to our room. Ms. A is an extra special Letter Light Friend. All the vowels are Letter Lights because we need them to spell words. Ask your child why she sneezes so much, it's not what you might expect. (She sneezes when she is happy.) Our color this week is green! We will sponge paint green frogs and learn a song about the Five Speckled Frogs. We will also color a green frog for our Brown Bear book. Please help your child dress in green this Friday, September 30th.
We had a special celebration today! Emma turned 5 today! Thank you Emma for the sweet treat! Happy Birthday!:)

Just a reminder school pictures are tomorrow. If you would like to order pictures please send in the order form with payment. Please remember that all children will be photographed for our class picture.
Also, today was our very first computer class!
Mrs. Granata introduced the mouse to all of our students. We sure did have a good time practicing clicking and dragging. Please check out Mrs. Granata's blog for pictures!
Finally, this week our color of the week is Yellow. We have been hard at work on a variety of yellow projects. We hope to be able to share our yellow projects soon.
One of our yellow projects involves taste testing sunflower seeds. Please let me know if this will be a problem. Thank you in advance.
I am looking forward to seeing all those happy smiles tomorrow!

"N/n" Week in Review

Thanks to Mr. N, we have had a lot of fun this week. We've had a lot of great stories to share, especially N themed books. I know you already have their neat noodle and blue letter Ns at home to decorate your fridges! The children have really enjoyed the song "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes" this week as well. We estimated with Mr. N's favorite food... noodles! The children did a great job making "smart guesses!"

A highlight from our shaving cream activity. After mixing the shaving cream and blue paint with a popsicle stick, it was ready for writing practice. The children wrote their names, the letter N, and drew shapes in their blue shaving cream.

The children were so excited for this great sensory experience!

Picture Day
We will be getting our pictures taken on Wednesday, September 21st. If you would like to order pictures please send in the order form with payment. (FYI: All children will be photographed for the class picture and record keeping purposes. We are provided with a few extra photographs to use for classroom projects as well.)
Thank you to the parents who already sent in the extra school supplies we requested. We greatly appreciate it.

Blue

We met Mr. N Yesterday! The children met our Letter Person friend with the "Noisy Nose." Ask your child what his noise is... Hopefully, he/she will remember and say, "Ninny, Nanny, Nonny!" We read Mr. N's story, colored his puppet, sang and danced to his song, and discussed different items that begin with N.

This week we are also working on the color blue. The children made Blue from Blue's Clues today. The children will also exercise their fine motor skills by practicing writing their names and numbers in blue shaving cream during Center Time on WEDNESDAY.(Please help your child pick out something dark to wear on WEDNESDAY. We do our best to keep them clean, but it gets messy!)) On Friday, September 16th, the children should wear blue to school.

A supply request list went home today. Every family was asked for treasures, stickers, and two additional items. If possible, please send in the requested supplies by next Monday, September 20th. Thank you for your support and generosity!

Preschool Update!

It was great to see so many parents at Back to School Night last night. Thank you for taking the time to meet with me and explore our classroom! The children created beautiful projects for you to see. I am very proud of them. The first week and a half flew by! If you have any questions or concerns throughout the school year just drop me a note in your child's folder or e-mail me.

This week we are working on the color red and traffic safety. I read them the story "The Little Red Hen." Afterward, we graphed and sequenced the story. We even made Clifford using red bingo dobbers. Today, we made glittery stop lights and discussed the colors' meanings. Tomorrow, weather permitting, we will go outside and play Red Light/Green Light. Please have your child wear red to school tomorrow, September 9th. Your child may also bring one pink or red show-and-tell.

Vision and Hearing Screening
The state requires all preschoolers to have their vision and hearing checked. We will be having vision and hearing screening next week. If you are interested in having your child screened at St. Juliana, please send the paperwork and payment back to school tomorrow. Thank you!

A message from St. Juliana's Mothers Club:
Please join us for the St. Juliana Mother's Club Welcome Coffee September 9th from 8:30 to 10:30 in the school hall. This is a great opportunity to meet new people and get involved in your child's school community. Hope to see you there!

Virtus Training
There is a Virtus training session Thursday, September 22nd, at St. Juliana. Please register online for this free class.

A HUGE thank you to Mrs. McPartlin for coming and helping us this week. We hope you had as much fun as we did!

Please take a moment to look at some of our class pictures! Enjoy!

First Week

We have been very busy learning our classroom routines, songs, and prayers. The children have also been busy decorating our classroom for open house. We can't wait to show off all of our hard work! Thank you to all of our wonderful students and parents for a great first week.

This week we have been talking about how God made us special, friendship, and the color pink. Yesterday we shared a story about how God designed each one of us in a unique and beautiful way. The children each made a special "person" to represent themselves. When you join us for Back to School Night next week, you'll find your child's project on the bulletin board outside our room.
