Parish Mission PDF Print E-mail

Please mark your calendars and plan to join us for our Lenten mission on the evenings of March 7 through March 10, 2010.

This year's mission will be led by Rev. Tom Donaldson, CSSR. You may have heard Fr. Tom lead a retreat or mission in the past as he has directed hundreds of gatherings across the U.S. He currently resides at St. Michael's Parish in Chicago's Old Town neighborhood. We are grateful that his close proximity has made him available to lead us in prayer and reflection this coming Lent.

While a mission experience is most complete when all sessions are attended, please try and join us even if your schedule only allows for one or two evenings.

What is a parish mission?

A mission is like a retreat, time spent away from your regular routine, during which you will renew and grow in your relationship with the Lord. The overall theme of this year's mission is "Retreat to the Lord" and each evening we will reflect upon a different theme:

Sunday, March 7:
The Living Personal Word of God in Love
Monday, March 8:
Jesus is the Ultimate Statement of God’s Love
Tuesday, March 9:
The Light of Christ Dispels all Darkness
Wednesday, March 10:
We are God’s Servants, Called Into Ministry and Sent Forth to proclaim God’s Word and Kingdom

The mission takes place in church and begins each evening at 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM. Please plan to gather with your fellow "missionaries" afterward for reflection and refreshments (provided by the parish.) Father Tom will also be presiding at the 8:45 AM masses on March 8, 9 and 10. Consider augmenting your mission retreat by attending those masses, or if you're unable to attend any of the mission evening programs.

The parish will provide complimentary child care during the mission times so that parents of young children will not have to miss this great opportunity to refresh and renew. For our seniors that may have difficulty traveling to and from church, we would like to assist you with transportation arrangements to attend each night's mission. Please contact Joyce Browne at the parish office (773.631.4127) to communicate your child care or transportation needs.
