The St. Juliana PreCana Marriage Preparation program has been helping to prepare engaged couples for marriage for over 20 years. The program was begun to provide more opportunities for marriage preparation to the engaged couples in our parish and community. An engaged couple marrying in the Catholic Church is required to attend one of the approved marriage preparation courses offered through the Archdiocese of Chicago.

 

We are proud of our marriage prep program here at St. Juliana which, in conjunction with several meetings with your priest/celebrant, provide the engaged couple with a comprehensive process for preparing for and living a marriage for a lifetime.

Our program currently consists of eight married parishioner couples who facilitate our PreCanas. Each PreCana takes place in one of the facilitator couples homes and is usually run on a weekend day over a six-hour period. The two facilitator couples make short presentations, introduce workbook excercises, facilitate and encourage discussion, and provide hospitality and a peaceful, prayerful space for the PreCana to take place.

 

Each PreCana is a small workshop setting comprising the two facilitator couples and five to seven engaged couples who work together to pray, reflect, discuss and share their stories and their life journeys.
