Letters From A Pastor to His People February 24, 2019
This, to me, is our Lords hardest teaching, or at least one of the hardest. Love your enemies...turn the other cheek...stop judging.
I once heard a priest say, We love God as much as we love our least favorite person. Ouch!
Yes, its a hard saying, but with God all things are possible. That could be a simple prayer of yours this week. Think of a person with whom you struggle and simply offer a Hail Mary (or some other prayer) for that person each day this week. How powerful that could be!
This is the Commitment Weekend for the 2019 Annual Catholic Appeal. We are called to answer Jesus call to follow Him and share the word by providing the necessary contribution to fund ministries and services to share Gods love with many others in our parish and our Archdiocese. The Archdiocese of Chicago does so much for the City of Chicago and for the universal Church, and we all know how important St. Juliana is to the lives of so many. Your contribution to the ACA allows us to continue to function and make a difference. Please remember that the ACA is not a onetime special collection, but rather a pledge campaign where you can make a more generous gift payable in installments. Cardinal Cupich and I are deeply grateful for your generosity.
Its that time of year for the Archdiocese Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA). Many of you have already received a letter from the Cardinal requesting your participation in this years campaign. The funds raised from this campaign go to support the ministries and programs of the Archdiocese. Each parish is assessed a goal. Every dollar we raise over that goal returns to the parish for its own use.
Last year, for the 2018 ACA, our goal was $53,018. We raised $69,603! Thats $16,508 we made for the parish. Thats a tremendous effort and I want to thank you all for your generosity. We put that money to good usefacility improvements, school scholarships, and capital projects.
This year, our goal is $54,775. Hopefully we can once again surpass our goal. Thank you for your sacrifice and support. More to follow in the coming weeks.
On the fourth Sunday of every month during the 930am Mass we offer Sunday School for children age 36. Our helpers will guide you to room 12, where you may drop off and retrieve your child immediately following Mass.
We spread the Gospel message to our youngest worshipers in a comprehensive way through ageappropriate stories, discussion, and handson activities.
There is no cost for our Sunday School program, and all children of preschool to kindergarten age (36) are welcome, parishioners and nonparishioners alike.
First Friday Eucharistic Adoration will take place in the church on March 1starting at 900 am and ending with Benediction at 545 pm. Please considering stopping by to spend some time with Jesus.

Bishop Bartosic has asked every parish to host a small listening session regarding the abuse crisis in the church. The point of this session is not to defend the churchs response to the crisis, but to give parishioners an opportunity to voice their concerns and simply to be heard. The bishop has also required the pastor to moderate the session. Ours will be Sunday, March 3rd @ 4pm in the Church.
