On September 28, 2016, US Department of Education Secretary Dr. John B. King, Jr., announced that Saint Juliana School is a 2016 National Blue Ribbon School! Only 50 private schools are honored with this distinction each year, along with 297 public schools in 2016. In order to be nominated, a Blue Ribbon school must demonstrate superior academic achievement, with assessment scores that in the top ten percent in the nation. That we received this award is due in large part to the endless support of our community: the families and parishioners who support our hard-working students, faculty and staff both on our campus and at home. Congratulations, everyone!
In November, Principal Katrina McDermott and Assistant Principal Anita Slaboch traveled to Washington, D.C. for a two-day ceremony to accept the award on behalf of our school. Our students celebrated the display of our award plaque and banner with pizza and a rockin' dance party; we shared photos of the fun on our Facebook page.
The text of the official press release is below, and a PDF version of the release can be downloaded here. We'd love our community to share the good news! The official hashtag is #2016NatlBlueRibbon and we are @StJulianaSchool on Twitter and Facebook.
